Morrowind and Oblivion are 50% Off on Steam!

I never got into Morrowind because I just couldn't manage to hit anything and got extremely annoyed by it. I played some Oblivion some years ago and I managed to get further into it, just got annoyed at any little mistake having big unwanted consequences (clicked on that door? now I'm considered a burglar; hit an ally by mistake during a fight? now he's an enemy and I can't finish the quest).

I never got into Morrowind because I prefer Wikipedia over it... Worst "dialogues" system ever...

Yeah the whole hitting thing get better later on, its dice rolls, look at it this way, in Oblivion you need to hit the creature multiple times to kill it, all those hits actually hit. In Morrowind you may try to hit it multiple times with only one blow landing yet its dead in about the same amount of time. Yeah you were a criminal in Oblivion no matter what, think there was a mod that fixed it but yeah that sucked, felt like the guards were all Psychic.

I don't remember it as having a problem to hit as much as having no idea if I'm even in the right direction, trying repeatedly to get a point of view that would let me do an attack, and then wondering if I just moved the mouse wrong, looked at the wrong direction or what. That was especially since early on you're fighting in some cave, and the enemy may be at a different height, maneuvering is more constrained, and I just became very frustrated.

Edit: Wrote 'case' instead of 'cave' by mistake. Fixed.

Yeah...its for sure not for everyone, but if you can look past that its a very deep game compared to most open world games, doubt Skyrim even got close to its amount of content. There are some mods I think that help combat(Turn it more into Oblivion like combat) but I forget what they are, you can try This but I never tried it personally and am not sure how much it covers of the original Morrowind.

Thanks a lot for the link. From the Morroblivion FAQ it covers 100% of Morrowind, so this looks like a great option for playing that. Really, that looks like a great project, and even if I don't get to play it soon, you've made me happy. Bookmarked.

Edit: I've now read the download instructions, and it looks like I need the Tribunal and Bloodmoon expansions, as well as Shivering Isles for Oblivion. Since I only have the original (boxed) Morrowind and Oblivion without the expansion this makes this mod of no immediate use. I might still buy the Morrowind digital edition and Oblivion expansion at some point, but not at the current prices.

Another edit: Annoyingly it looks like Shivering Isles isn't available for separate sale. I'm not going to buy the game again just to get it. If I could get the main game as a gift, then maybe, but since Steam is just eating up double licenses for lunch, I don't want to give it that satisfaction.

Damn, sorry to hear that, shame they don't sell it separate, thats kinda dumb, kinda like the Borderlands DLC packs being the same price as the game + all DLC. I will probably never own the DLC to that game also...

Understandable, maybe Steam will go mad and have a 90% off sale in the summer, odder things have happened lol....

Maybe, though I'm not that hopeful, based on the year end sale having lesser discounts than in previous big sales. Valve's statistics probably pegged the best sales at 75% off, and they're sticking to that in most cases. Still, who knows. Maybe it will appear on GamersGate at a huge discount. GG has on occasion some pretty crazy prices which look like bugs (I bought Insecticide for $0.17, that was really crazy).

Well I know last big sale some games were over 75%, think Serious Sam was one of them, but yeah most don't go lower then 75%.

GamersGate has big sales all the time, which makes it a bit of a chore to follow them, but it does have a handy "Alert me on price drops" on the game pages, which can be effective. I now used that for Oblivion.
