Should I put these games up for trade or give away?
Give Away, but better set some lvl requirement - from personal experience - the bigger lvl requirement the more likely the winner is to follow site rules.
For example - not long ago I've run a set of private GAs on a forum, lvl 0 to 7. Support approved rule for all these GAs was "Comment to Enter". On lvl 0,1,2 a lot of ppl didn't even bother to read the description and didn't comment. Few reroll happened. For lvl 4 or 5 and higher there was not a single person who wouldn't follow GA rules. Generally higher lvl ppl are sure to been around for a while and knowing how stuff works on SG, so they are less problematic as winners ;)

This.
By the time a user gets to Lvl 4 he should at least have heard of that thing called FAQ and clicked that nice button with "FAQ" written in all caps and almost at the upper center of the screen (maybe he even read the whole thing) and he pretty much has more experience using the site.

Is that a big +1 I see.... or are you just happy to see me?

I'd say start a trade, let it open for a while and when you're satisfied with what you got from it, give away the rest

I think it was: To potato or not to potato, that is the potato.

Trade for what games you want, then when you don't get any bites for a bit, give away the rest to people on your friends list. Higher chance they'll actually play them too :)

I throw my games up for trade, but then I periodically give one or two away.

you could try to beat jatan11t's giveaway train record ;) (150 giveaways)

can be hard, especially because OP have max 23 GA slots atm (if he never deleted a GA). In SGv1 support was able to give additional GA slots but only by 3 at the time and only when no slots were avaiable - so he'd have to create 3 GAs, wait for support to add 3 slots, create new 3 GAs, wait for new 3 slots and so on and on.

If you give them away, you should do two thing.
Give them away on the forum, and add a level requirement.
By doing so, you'll avoid and trouble with new users.

Build a whitelist from people that are active on the forums. Those are the ones that are easy to deal with, usually helpfull and gratefull. I think you can determine pretty fast who is a nice person and who might be the ones you might run into problems with.
Or look for a suiting group. If you're willing to give away stuff, you shouldn't have problems finding one. In the groups other people will enforce the rules for you on a stricter base than here on steamgifts itself.
Certainly this will be no guarantee to not encounter any difficulties...

Hm, tough question. For me trading was never interesting. Too much work for too little gain. You could try splitting your keys. Keep the more valued ones for trading and give away the other ones.
If the negative experience is what keeps you off then just follow the advice before: Use the forum, make obscure puzzles, make whitelist giveaways, increase the needed CV level. This should normally keep off "unpleasant entries and aftermaths".
Other than that you could give them away to your friends (Steam or real life). Either let them choose or make a group for them and make giveaways here so you can still gain some Contributor value.

I'd say you should decide what do you want more.
Do you want to get some new specific titles in the near future? If so, and you have some time to spare, go for the trades. If you would rather raise your CV for a chance to win some better random games later then give your keys away.
As for the mishap with the givaway, there is a chance you are going to have problems regardless of what you do. That's life. Just because some people are not too cool sometimes, does not mean you should stop doing what you wanted to do.

Do what makes you feel good. I give games away because if I win games I should give games. Also I am to lazy to trade. :)

In my opinion, if the game has any value to it, set it with a level requirement, if you got the game for free, like that penguins game that was given out on Christmas, or the playfire account games, then put them as level 0 and not care about who wins.

the thing is you don't have to put the key into the cd key option, you can hand it out yourself and then as a last resort e-mail it to him and if that even is hopeless contact support

Well guys, I am currently sitting at around 250 spare game keys and gift links. I've been deciding wether or not to set up a new trades thread or if i should give away the bulk of the games. The only problem is that recently i had 1 ignorant person win a gift, and for 3 weeks ignored the link and marking the gift as received. By that point i wasnt sure if they had redeemed the gift or not, so it was a wasted code, that kind of put me off doing other giveaways.
But hey, lets see what the responses from the poll are, i'll give it a week.
