Thankfully, I got my cell number years ago, and have moved since. So when they spoof a "local" number, I immediately recognize it as spam. But it's only a few each week, anyway. 50 a day would drive me insane.

When I have a job: Nothing. No robocalls or texts.
When I'm looking for work: Constant robocalls and texts.
I rarely use the phone I put down for that type of thing so I narrowed it down to Indeed selling my phone number to these people. I also caught them adding pay per click links where they didn't belong but that's a tale for another day.
Pretty much some company or entity somewhere has sold our numbers to these call centers and robo-callers.
Picking up and trying to reason with/mess with/scream at them is a mistake you just verified you're an active number. If they get butthurt the volume of calls increase.
Asking to be put on the DNC (Do Not Call) list is useless if they are not located on in your country because the laws do not apply to them.
Contrary to popular belief it's not just Indian call centers that do this. I worked (for a day) at a shady call center that harassed Australian people for holidays in the US. The people there were garbage and did not adhere to DNC requests at all.
I worked at a telesales call center that made it very clear to adhere to DNC requests but some people are assholes and their system was shit so people still get call backs after saying DNC.
Block them if you want but they spoof numbers at a rate where you'll be doing it endlessly.
My advice is to not pick up and hope they think you're a dead lead. Be very careful where you put your phone number on the internet or share IRL.
The US has recently been kicking around some "law" to punish robocalls but unless they're going to trace calls and fly in dudes to smash up call centers The Raid style it's not going to stop.

It started 4 days ago. Nonstop I am getting about 50 robocalls per day and it will not stop. I do not understand why.
Even after blocking, more keep coming in. The thing is, they also use my area code which means it "could" be legitimate. Most times it is not .I am reserved to having people leave messages if they are legit.
