What is the best Groundhog Day-type time loop movie
Mirror for a Hero (1987) is a late-Soviet movie about two men who are also miraculously transported back in time to 1949 and post-war USSR seems like another world to them. They soon find out that they are also stuck in a one-day loop that repeats over and over.
I actually like t more than Groundhog Day, but it requires a good understanding of the historical context.

As we exit 6 weeks of winter invoked upon us by a spiteful groundhog from Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, I would like to revisit another of evil groundhog powers - time loops. The evil critter's sinister ability to trap unsuspecting people in the same day repeating over and over has been first chronicled in 1993 'Groundhog Day' documentary, and since then we've had a lot of brave filmmakers spreading the truth. Once we figure out the most worthy one, we can crown them the Groundhog Slayer and finally get a shot at overthrowing the tyranny of the Big Groundhog.
