Ok so i go to Steamtrades and i always see people trading a game or multiple that can be worth 20 or more for 1 CS:GO key.

I just want to know why are they worth so much.

Just check the market for actual keys value. Games are cheap.

What game is it? There are many deals and bundles and sites and regions that affects a game's price (a game rarely has a market price of exactly the same as the price in steam store, unless it is a new triple A game)

[Eg. Planetary Annihilation costs $30 on steam market, but worth less than $2 (was worth cents at one point) in market prices (cause it was in given free previously and was in cheap bundles($1) and other stuff]

TLDR; It isn't keys that are worth alot, it's the game you are looking at that isn't worth that much

It's not that their value is that high, but those games must have been bundled.

If you wanna really be surprised about prices, check some removed games threads on Steamtrades.

The keys unlock crates and stuff.

a key is usually valued at 2$...because you can buy them for 2$ or a bit less via paypal
so it's the games that are valued quite low

keys are sort of a virtual steam currency with a stable value of $2

Well its not worth a came that cost more than 6$, they open boxes that cost 0.3 cents.
In the end you have a STRONG chance to get a 0.14 cents skin.

even if the chance they give you a legendary skin its not worth it.

the cost of the "chance" to get something cool is a different topic too

traders don't open boxes with their keys. Keys is just a currency, nothing more.

For the same reason that money bills, which are essentially useless paper, are worth so much. CSGO keys (and other virtual currencies) have an agreed value, and as long as they are scarce (in the sense that one can't easily generate them), that will continue to hold this value. It will fluctuate to some degree, based on supply and demand.

*Off topic.

For a real idea of what a game is worth/sold for in the secondary market you can use sites like the ones below to see how much people sell those for:
cheapdigitaldownload.com
g2a.com
kinguin.com

Retail price is a worthless indicator.

To OP:
Grey market sites will give you a rough market price (it's worth) for the games (most of the time it is alot less than the one priced in steam store due to various reasons)

Trading happens on Steamtrades, not here.

Because they are considered currency and this is what the market eventually valued them at (~2 USD). There is no other reason. They are not really used for what they were intended, they are just traded instead of money.

the real reason is those traders are extremely generous!

they buy games for $60 and trade them for $10-worth of csgo keys <333

Some people got bundle and just don't want some games from them, so they want to get for them "just something", simply for to not give away for nothing.)
