so only friends of a generous person would be able to come here?
might as well gift them directly ;p
i think current system is fine it just needs some tweaks as to not allow huge overflow of people in short periods of time. thats the only thing that might cripple this website.

i have a suggestion to reduce people making fake giveaways.
there should be 2 different invites
Normal Invite: Anyone can give, people who registered with a normal invite cannot make a giveaway.
Premium Invite: Someone with authority can give, people who registered with this invite can make a giveaway. people who registered with a normal invite but is willing to give games must be given a premium invite to make a giveaway. these people with premium invites may also enter giveaways.
Thoughts?

That would mean that there will be two levels of members. Prenium and normal ones. I don't think that this is what we want for the site. It's ok to have moderators to take care of things around here, but having prenium members is pointless. Everyone should be able to give and take as long as he follows the rules. The problem is to find a way to force following the rules...

What? That doesn't make any sense. You want people that join not able to make giveaways and only people with Premium Invites can make giveaways? What would be the point of anyone even considering getting a premium account?
Or are you trying to say only people with premium accounts can make giveaways AND enter them? If this was the case why have the normal invite system at all, it would just be clogging up the servers and result in hundreds of people begging for premium.

you dont need to pay for getting a premium account..
whats the point of making giveaways and entering them?

You enter giveaways for the chance of getting a free game. You make giveaways for the warm fuzzy feeling of giving things away and/or more points.
The system you put forward makes no sense. Either way regular or premium is going to be worthless. Now some sort of giveaway that will only allow other people that giveaway is a bit more inline with your thinking and less flawed, yet it still has it's own problems.

Aside from that, we still have lots of features planned, including search, filters, wishlists, and member stats. However, the above obviously needs to be addressed first. If you have any other suggestions to keep things running smooth, or dislike any of the ideas posted, feel free to comment!
Super !!!

Suggestions;
Option to remove games from listing that are already on members account
Additional ability to remove games from listings as per member preference (i.e removing games I have no desire to enter, I'm looking at you 'Eets'! - you mentioned filters above so maybe this is already in the works)
Replicate SGS price tracker here - I love that thing and although it's not too much effort to have two tabs open I'd like to see it here
Wishlist integration from Steam (you mentioned wishlists above but didn't elaborate on whether this is what you meant)
Dedicated team of coffee makers - my kitchen is all the way over there points and dammit I might miss something if someone doesn't bring me coffee!

I 2nd the disabling of invite creation until things open back up. I had a friend I invited and he was quite confused. Or at least put an announcment on the invite page.

At the moment, user registration has been disabled. Although we hear a lot of the bad news, things are going well. Thanks to everyone, we have $28,000 worth of gifts posted, with 90.5% being received, 2.2% not received, and 7.3% awaiting reply. As well, 856 users have contributed one or more gifts and 1,365 unique users have won at least once. Only a handful of users have needed to be banned, and a few dozen fake giveaways have been removed over the past month. Overall, I think we're doing great, but we have a little room for improvement, and we'd like to ensure things don't get out of hand. For that reason, registration has been temporarily disabled until at least the following features are in place.
A simple description explaining how the site works, with a detailed list of rules, and those which will result in a ban. Users will need to read this page, and agree to the rules before taking part. It's difficult to remove users from the site for something they may or may not have read, so this will allow us to guarantee users know the guidelines for being a member. Once they agree, we can quickly remove those causing trouble.
Additional mods on the site and chat, with more features to better manage content. Mods still need the ability to both remove giveaways, and ban users. Once this is in place, we'll be able to handle problems even quicker.
Limitation on giveaways created by new users. Once or twice we've had users post up a handful of fake giveaways in a short period of time. I think this should be capped for those without positive feedback.
Aside from that, we still have lots of features planned, including search, filters, wishlists, and member stats. However, the above obviously needs to be addressed first. If you have any other suggestions to keep things running smooth, or dislike any of the ideas posted, feel free to comment!
