Last week the Star Wars Battlefront 2 peak player record was set on Steam with over 17k players. Yesterday a new peak record was set with over 20k players. I love this game :) It's on sale right now for only $3.99

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1237950/STAR_WARS_Battlefront_II/

I picked up Star Wars Battlefront 2 back in April this year and I've had a blast with it. Solid single player and I love the co-op and pvp.

Just an fyi for those who aren't aware, it does launch the EA app when you start the game and when you shutdown the game it closes with it.

I wonder how much Andor was responsible for the recent player count...

Like all online games they have their cheaters and unfortunately in May a lot of the lobbies became unplayable due to the cinematic camera bug that some bad actors were doing. EA hasn't really been active in awhile in this game due to it ceasing development awhile ago, but that changed in May when the massive outreach of player support the had gotten them to pay attention and came in and did something about it. There's a lot of content creators that have been playing the game and streaming it as well as making tons of videos on it since May and really pushing to show EA that players want a Battlefront 3. So while there's always going to be cheaters, it's not anywhere as big of an issue as it has been in a very very long time.

The new season of Andor and the new Star Wars content on Fortnite definitely played a role in helping the numbers.

This post led me down memory lane and I logged into EA app just to check and yeah I have 119 hours and 34 achievements unlocked for this. I always felt SW Battlefront II is a nice co-op/PvP game for people who really aren't that much into them. The snipers gave me hell though lol

EA added their anticheat to Battlefield 1 and V in late 2024. That would be a great time to add it to Battlefront. Imagine, if they'd also do that with Titanfall.

This is a fun game, even if I am very bad at it. I used to play it with my son on Origin. He was always nice about not mentioning my lack of skill. :D

Bro, we need to play coop ASAP!! I would have asked you a lot sooner if I knew you owned the game and played before. Also your son is more than welcome to join me anytime and play with me if he wants.

I just downloaded the EA app and I'm re-installing the game. I checked the stats, I have 85 hours but the last time I played was March 2023.

Coop sounds awesome! But you seriously do not understand how bad I am at this game. :D

If you have the EA client launch the game there without the EGS one time. Then shutdown the game and launch it from the EGS and see if that helps with the issue. Sometimes on Steam the game won't launch for the first time for some people, and what I've mentioned normally works.

Also if you are using DX12, don't. DX12 on this game has had a lot of issues for a very long time.

EA decided to start the summer sale a week early so that more people can stock up on them. Interesting offer, if I don't think of anything else, I'll come back to it and buy it for the Battlefield collection, which it's formally included in.

I only see battlefront in one bundle on steam, called star wars triple bundle. is there another one that you see it in?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I only see that as well. I just noticed he said Battlefield collection and not Battlefront, so he might be confusing a bundle he saw or maybe it's a bundle exclusive to his area that includes Star Wars Battlefront 2?

I didn't confuse anything, because Battlefront is literally Battlefield, which was renamed because there was already such a series in the Star Wars universe.
But what I'm more curious about is where did you two see me saying anything about bundles??? :)

You mentioned Battlefield, and your take on that it's the same game is fine, but I don't view them as the same thing, so I obviously thought you were referring to Battlefield.

When you mentioned collection I thought you were referring to something like what I've linked below which is a bundle of several Star Wars games, mind you that were talking about Star Wars Battlefront, not Battlefield. Obviously I wasn't the only one who thought you were referring to something like this. Your first sentence led to some confusion.

imo you can do a lot worse for $4 if you buy this game just for the campaign. It was actually pretty fun, didn't actually touch the multiplayer at all.

Eventually it will be discounted at 95% off as other similar EA battlefield-games right now, you can wait as previous 8 years of not-buying.

Battlefront 1 and 2 are such fun classics game, I played them both back in the day on console. I own both of them on Steam, I just haven't play them yet there.

With regards to EA Play, that isn't required for the new Battlefront 2. EA Play is a monthly sub where you gain access to a bunch of games that EA has. If you own Star Wars Battlefront 2 on Steam you don't need that.

I got this for free from Playstation+ but it's hard to support the new game considering how much they've dumbed down the Classic Star Wars Battlefront II from 2005 and turned it into a generic Hero (?) shooter.

I've only played it less than 10 hours at a friends place but to anybody who never played the original let me paint you a picture:

  • You start out as teams of 32 on large battleships like Star Destroyers or Rebel Transports.
  • You rush to the hangar bay to man 3 different types of ships like fighter jets, bombers and transports.
  • There's an epic space battle where you have to destroy the artillery on the enemy carrier and land your troops in the hostile landing bay.
  • Once you're onboard the enemy ship the game turns into a control style deathmath. If I remember correctly there's certain objectives you can take over to allow you to respawn on the enemy carrier. Otherwhise it's back to your own carrier if you die.

I'd rather have that than pill power-ups that allow me to temporarily turn into Darth Vader for 3 minutes 😆

I play in 4k with max settings and the game is really smooth for me with no tweaks to anything.

OS: Windows 11 Home 64-bit
CPU: Intel Core i7-12700K
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070
RAM: 16 GB DDR4
Storage: 1TB SSD

If you happen to be using DX12 don't as it causes a lot of issues for this game.

Also if you haven't done this yet run the game once through the EA launcher without using the EGS. Then shut it down and then launch it via the EGS, it might help things. I'm wondering if it might be something hardware related or the nvidia driver you're using that could be causing an issue.

It's all fine now. I'm launching the game through EA launcher exclusively. My issue was the game didn't like 4K fullscreen on my pc for whatever reason so I changed to 4K fullscreen borderless which works without issues. You're right with DX12 it causes graphical glitches.

I know STAR WARS Jedi: Fallen Order can be enjoyed if you're not a SW fan, but can this one be enjoyed too with little to no knowledge of SW?

EDIT: thanks for the insight guys, I appreciate it <3

I'm not deep into Star Wars lore as a lot of people are. I've watched all of 6 big movies and watched some of the TV shows on Disney plus. I believe the game can be enjoyed even if you don't know much about Star Wars. You could always purchase it, play it for a bit and it's not for you submit a refund request.
