Yay or nay?
They released a new trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ttg6TuGkkTI

Is this the part where everyone cries about political correctness?
Should be the end of it, right?
Instead we will likely get denizens of non-customers, who never planned on purchasing the game, complaining online about political correctness that affects them in no way whatsoever.

Why would you assume the people who voiced their concerns are customers but the ones that disagree with it are not?
Comment has been collapsed.
They could be asshats for all I know. It's clearly evident that Amanita valued said concerns enough to alter their product, which is entirely their own prerogative.

which is entirely their own prerogative.
Of course it is.

Right, so my point was that the issue should end there. Agree or disagree, the company made an executive decision that they felt was the best financial move for themselves.
But these days, that's where the buzz begins. It's just another "controversial" story that reeks of feigned outrage that will be heatedly discussed by people who never planned on buying the game. As someone who works in mass media, I've simply grown tired of such sensationalized framing.

The main problem is that this presumably affects Steam users who had already purchased the game and did like the existing design. If they give the option for customers to choose whichever they felt most comfortable playing as it would be completely non-controversial I would assume?

Right. So, it's free advertising at best and feigned controversy at worst.

original complainers now feel validated
That's the problem, right there. People that attempt to shame others into conforming to their overly-sensitive sense of political correctness should not be validated, as it only emboldens them (and others who observe this scenario) to continue in this ridiculous line of behavior.
You also ignore the fact that Amanita's choice was certainly not entirely free. While it would be a bit of an exaggeration to compare it to having a gun to one's head, the possible bad press from being supposedly "soft on racism" (which no doubt many outlets would run) if they did not bow to the pressure from the vocal nuts is not insignificant. They were pressured to change.

It's sad.
If you played an Amanita game before you would see that these people def. not created this little guy in thinking of making fun of black people or anything.
This is going into a wrong direction. And with all the people I know, no matter what color has the skin or what gender they have or who they love... Nobody would say that this here helps anybody... It's more like to bring people up against "anti racism" movements.

Eh. I do like the color-swapped version of the character more, personally.
As for the reason why... I'm guessing the devs just decided to take the path of least resistance so they can get back to focussing on cute-with-a-hint-of-creepy looking games without having to deal with the screeching idiots that make a big deal out of everything.

Because the OP is intentionally inviting controversy.

To quote a bit from my opening post "I'm indifferent but curious about what others think". Yet you wrote something entirely different compared to what I said, to be honest not sure where that assumption came from.

"indifferent but curious," yet your polarized poll (lol) doesn't include your own stated opinion. Simply calling it as I see it.
Comment has been collapsed.
but......it's because I'm indifferent. Literally don't have an opinion about this whole ordeal, not sure what's so confusing about that.

Well, your poll options mean only positive or negative feedback to the subject is possible.
Wether intentionally or not (I don't believe it was) you've exempted a view which could have been the majority of people.

To be honest, it seems like a pretty dumb thing to me, I know there are people probably getting offended on both sides of the argument but it seems like a very minor issue to have.
That said, wouldn't an option in the menu that allows to toggle the palette solve this whole thing?

You are spot on:

Neither that person nor the OP own the game.

Well, at least I played it before they "fixed" it.

The original design isn't racist, but having those kids at the forum getting all triggered about having the devs choose to respect minorities seems really racist to me. I can't see any coherent reason to oppose the devs' decision, I mean, it won't make the game worse in any way and it may be positive for someone else, so whining about it seems just troll-ish, petty drama.

Really unfortunate change. Imho they shouldn't be influenced by the few people offended by it if they had no intention of offending anybody in the first place and never heard about "blackface" before. Even if they did want to change that it, it shouldn't happen such a long after release (9 months).
And besides all of the drama - I just liked the original color scheme much much more. It fitted the white backgrounds better :(

No, not the enhanced edition of the game, but something else:
"This is your new Chuchel.
In reaction to a number of requests we’ve seen coming from the players throughout the year, we ultimately decided to swap Chuchel’s colours and change his body colour from black to orange. We acknowledge that due to significant differences in culture and history between Central Europe and other regions, we did not consider the possibility of Chuchel, a living dust bunny, being associated with ‘blackface’, a theatrical racial stereotype which emerged in the United States in the 19th century.
We would like to sincerely apologize to anyone who has been offended by the original appearance of Chuchel. As a team of peace-minded creative people, we simply do not want any of our games and characters even remotely associated with racism or any other form of hate crime. In order to avoid any further misinterpretations, Chuchel’s appearance will be changed on all platforms in the upcoming days and weeks.
Thank you for your understanding and ongoing support,
Amanita Design"

Thoughts? I'm indifferent but curious about what others think. You can still see the old design on the store page before it is updated.
