Godzilla DLC Free Download Distribution Period
May 23, 2024 (00:00) (PDT) - November 23, 2024 (11:59PM) (PST)

  • Download will no longer be available after the distribution period.
  • If already downloaded, the DLC can be played even after the distribution period ends.
  • If downloaded during the distribution period, the DLC can still be deleted and reinstalled after the period ends.

This is simply a reminder in case you have the base game "Dave the Diver" but forgot to claim the free dlc.
Here is the dlc page for Godzilla Content Pack: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2841140/DAVE_THE_DIVER__Godzilla_Content_Pack/

The base game is also currently on sale with a 30% discount. So you can buy the game and claim the free dlc.
The game page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1868140/DAVE_THE_DIVER/

There is still almost a month time left. So there is still a chance that the game might get a slightly bigger discount. But honestly I didn't wanna risk it in case I forget.
So again, Make sure to download the dlc.

If I claimed it, but haven't downloaded/instaled game yet, will it disappear or not?

After clicking "Add to library", the game will stay here forever.

Where did you get that? Games that were removed from store still accessible from Steam library. For example Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf and its DLCs.
I think it's some miswording from publisher.

That would be a very weird way to do it. Stuff that's in the actual Steam library, such as games and DLC, is very rarely ever removed. The exception is if it's Steam keys that were fraudulent or things like that. Most likely it's just that it will no longer be free to claim, then either removed from the store or have a price to purchase it.

Is this even possible? It is possible to remove a DLC from all users, except for those who have already downloaded it at least once... Does Steam have a mechanism to do this? Has this ever happened before? In my opinion it would be surprising if downloading the DLC was really necessary as long as it has been added to the library - but I it's better to be safe than sorry.

I also found this :

"While the content is currently free to download, it will only be available for a limited period due to the Godzilla licencing. There are no plans to transition it to paid content, but it will eventually be delisted from the store," the rep said in a statement provided to PC Gamer. "However, users who download the DLC during the specified period can still enjoy the content even if it's no longer visible on the Steam Store. So, no need to worry about losing access once it's taken down." - source : PC Gamer

I´m 99% sure thats just poorly worded and it´ll behave like any other delisted item from the store and can still be downloaded if it was claimed for your account. I hope so, we´ll see.

I don't think so and I can't remember such a case. They can't modify the depot, because then everyone would be affected. So they will just unlist the DLC and thus new game owners won't be able to claim it.

I know it's free(!) and Godzilla and you shouldn't miss it and all that but has anyone actually played it? Is it fun? I'm not buying the game at this price just for a free DLC

Nice idea, someone can confirm if is it valid? Or if you get some DLC after purchase a base game it's not possible refund the main game?

From what I've read of it once you have it the game isn't as fun any more. Something about a part you get to and, if you have the DLC, you have to do a battle which isn't very responsive to the controls every time you wish to pass though it.

Without the DLC it is apparently much easier and more enjoyable.

Get more sources than just me to verify this. I've only read it and it made me pause last time I saw DtD on sale.

That said, everybody loves DtD and so if you do have it perhaps look into how to keep the DLC after the deadline but not have it appear in game (All the time).

That doesn't sound ideal. I had read some people saying the DLC was difficult in part due to controls but I didn't know it actually modified the base game.

I had really enjoyed the DtD demo at NextFest but I still find the price a little high for it, at least with all I already have to play so I was in no hurry.

No, once you've finished the content, it doesn't bother you anymore. After you've done the main part with the battle, all that is left is a collecting task. It's optional and just gives you cosmetic(s).

Personally I would not pay much for this DLC content if there was an opportunity to. It was ok (and short), but nothing special.

I actually put a review on this dlc last night, here's a copy paste of it:

"Wait, this is all of the content that I was worried about missing when it goes away next month? There's absolutely nothing here.

Very little content, may take 30 minutes to get through (minus the collectathon bit). All you do is find Godzilla in the Blue Depths, then drive a submarine while hiding/escaping from Ebirah (the crab monster), boss fight against Ebirah as the submarine, and then a final fight as Godzilla.

Both submarine sections controlled terribly and may cause unnecessary frustration. The fight as Godzilla (as far as I can tell) is awful. I tried to figure it out but once I got to 1/5th health as Godzilla, I defaulted to the strategy when Ebirah raises his claw, I block and then hit A once to attack. If Ebirah goes low, he'll slam into Godzilla, so you must press B to block this move, with I think no available timing to retaliate. Incredibly boring.

Maybe you can enjoy the collectathon bit but that wasn't the content I was hoping for. I kept playing the game waiting for Godzilla to come back for another set piece but I think that's it? I've already finished it?

All-in-all, not sure if I can recommend it as a good free DLC and I definitely can't recommend grabbing the game (and subsequently the game) due to FOMO with this leaving Steam in a month. "

I will say I don't regret buying the game at all for ~$10 during the Fanatical star deal (and they release a small little content patch today as well) but I definitely don't recommend buying the game because you're scared on missing out on the DLC. If you're happy to wait for a better sale, wait for a better sale.

Thanks for sharing your thorough review. I saw someone on reddit say the best parts of the DLC are in the trailer and at least you don't need to drag yourself through the gameplay to see that. I guess that pretty much sums it up

I'm definitely not a Kaiju fetishist to need to Pokemon it all up so I'll just pass and wait. Too bad I keep forgetting about the Star Deal because 10 bucks would have been a good price for the game but I'm sure it'll reach it again.

If you want to play the game soon (it's great), you can go for it, but you won't miss out much if you get and play it later without the DLC. There are walkthroughs of this storyline on YT which are like 30 minutes. The fights were okay for me, but not great, others reported issues with controls. If you enjoy the base game and might go for 100%, you can reach 50 and more hours easily, in comparison to that this DLC is tiny.

Yeah I thought I would check out the DLC over YT this weekend. Probably best anyway since I don't plan on getting the game in a hurry just for that.

Bought the game to claim the free DLCs, and then didn't like it. If I could skip the sushi store bit, I'd like it more. Oh well.
