I've heard both bad things and good things about the game. It looks like a Chaos Rings kind of game. How does it play out? Does it have a bad story or something? Everyone either likes the game or dislikes it.

The battle system is by far the best and most innovative part of the game.

They are more like action games with RPG elements but they are very good games imo.

I'm planning to get Dragon Age too, but the fact that I can't buy the ultimate edition really piss me off. I mean, I'm willing to give EA money but they refuse to sell it to me.
Get SWKOTOR I & II if you haven't play it yet. If you up for challenge, try Dungeons of Dredmor - roguelike RPG that didn't rely much on pure luck.

That isn't Gothic 3, it's an expansion made by a third-party developer.

It's a great game and really, really difficult... if you're into that sorta thing.

If you haven't ever played a RPG made by Piranha Bytes, try Risen 1.

Agreed. It's definitely a ton of fun in small doses, though.

Borderlands is awesome and carries elements from both FPS and RPG. So it is sort of an RPG.

That's not a very good argument... Call of Duty has a player progression system, is that an RPG? Breath of Death VII has almost no loot system, so is that not an RPG?
I'm definitely of the opinion that BL1 and 2 are FPS with RPG elements. Play Fallout 1 and try using a sniper rifle without having the skills, and then try it in Borderlands and you'll see the difference between RPG and RPG elements.

The combination of the loot and progression system places it in an RPG category I would say, and idk what COD has for a player progression system, but I doubt is would be an RPG style progression system, since I am pretty sure that is a multiplayer-versus focused game, but not played it, and very likely won't.

Having enough RPG elements makes it an RPG/FPS. To me, having an open world game with a loot system and an experience system that increase the strength of your character, as the strength of the enemies increase, with quest focused gameplay, then it is an RPG. If you don't think it qualifies that it is an RPG, that is your opinion, and should express what DOES make an RPG.

So I really want to play some good RPGs this summer. When the summer sale swings by, I'm going to pick up a couple. Which ones should I get? I'm getting Dragon Age Origins and the Witcher 2 for sure. I already have played the Elder Scrolls games, Torchlight 2, LoG and I have Baldur's Gate in my backlog. Are there any hidden gems in the RPG section of Steam? Or any good ones I don't want to miss out on?
EDIT: When I talk RPG I mean less APRG like BL2. BL2 is tons of fun but I'm looking for a more classic RPG feel. Dungeons & Dragons, Final Fantasy, and Elder Scrolls feel.
EDIT 2: People have also brought up rogue likes which are a personal favorite. I have BoI, DoD, and FTL but if others have more, it'd be appreciated.
