Is this the charity bundle they should have done in December?

View Results
[Buy for the games] A good buy for any gameHunter.
[Buy for charity] I might not want or like these, but cancer awareness is worth my money.
[Have] Even before my latest Great Adventure, I already collected most of these on my Homeworld.
[Skip] If I bought every bundle out there, I'd be stuck here searching for online Payday loans. I'm sure not going for this one won't leave me with any Little Nightmares to regret.
[Lineup complaint] I know it's for a good cause, but did they need to add ancient titles and games given away for Steam/Epic?
[Sliders complaint] It's not a proper charity bundle if IGN get a forced percentage of it.

What i am curious about is why certain games like Peppy's Adventures aren't cheap/on keyreseller sites? Is this bundle doing poorly or everyone wants the game themselves? Or does it take some days?

Makes me debate in having to buy this bundle again.

I notice the website is also listing 0 dollar for charity despite there being a leaderboard, with an average purchase suggesting it's selling somewhat.

Bought it anyways. It's 100% to charity, I don't have half of the bundle, sort of interested in 3 of them, why not. Will give the rest away sometime.

to be honest, humans have wasted a trillion dollars trying to cure cancer for the last 40 years, so i dont think my $10 will help them any. so ill save my money.

What an ignorant comment. You really have no idea how much diagnosis, treatment and therapy improved over all these years. I'm thankful that my mom survived her cancer, thanks to science.

i would say the worst part is any time someone does cure it, the billionaires who own the medical fields assassinate the people who cure it. my mom has cancer right now too sadly, but 100% the rich use it as a money grab cuz you cant make money off the healthy.

The broken US healthcare system has nothing to do with cancer science in general though. My mom had to pay nothing for her treatment, beyond some standard 10€ fees.

Cancer is not one big concrete concept that can be cured. It`s a complex decease that evolves and mutates.
There are many types of cancers which divide into even more cancer types.
And those are not similar so you cant even apply the same cure for every type.

All of the years and money invested into curing cancer has pushed the frontier even further into "curing it". It is not one big conspiracy into "billing people". While to some extent I agree that healthcare system has turned into a business and a lot of money is being poured into pockets, no one is actively silencing treatments. Most if not all of these magical treatments that surface are usually able to cure only one mutation out of hundreds.. and even that is not guaranteed. Its a step but its usually turned into clickbait article with misleading information to create uproar... or in other words - false news for political or some other gain.

I hope your mom gets better and all the best wishes, but be a bit more opened minded... Its a complex decease that require enormous work to be invested into it. I`d say any donation matters as money has to come from somewhere and science is not cheap.. While making vaccines can eventually turn into a profitable business, realistically we wont see any similar cure for cancer that could earn back all the money invested into it. But of course be wary of where you donate - if the money actually goes to the cancer researchers or through 12 profit organizations who take their commissions and only 10% reach the actual goal... Be angry at this scummy practice thats going on in todays world

Maybe sometimes stop thinking about games and actually think about the cause. This one makes sense to donate even if you don't want the games. You never know what can happen in life.

I contacted Humble support 3-4 days ago and they're aware of it, all we have to do is wait...

"Thanks for reaching out to Humble Bundle Support! I'm sorry to hear that there have been some issues with your order.

It appears the keys to these products are temporarily exhausted, meaning we have depleted our current stock of keys. We receive all of our keys manually in batches, and once we acquire more keys, the affected download and store pages will be updated.

Rest assured, we are working to receive more keys from our partners, and we are very sorry for the delay! If you receive a key exhaustion error on your download page, you will be informed via your registered email address once more keys are in stock, though we recommend checking back on your download page from time to time. More information is available over at our Key Exhaustion Errors help article."

They now claim that there are no more keys for Peppy's adventure

but on the steam page they are still available https://store.steampowered.com/app/1588910/Peppys_Adventure/

I made a ticket and I quote from the conversation:
"he developer is unable to provide us with additional keys for this title"
"we are unable to provide this key for this Bundle due to stock limitations"

I sent a ticket 3 weeks ago. At that time they still trying to get more key batches.
I keep following up on the situation but nothing changes. They ended up just giving me $5 of the Humble Store Wallet fund.

Kinda sucks but I've given up on Peppys code since then.

I'm wondering if you would receive a key if you purchase it on the Humble Store...

https://www.humblebundle.com/store/peppys-adventure

I wouldn't mind buying the game (again) if the developer made a good sale. Anyway, let's wait and see if they can get more keys from Valve. I'll worry when Humble does the usual BS move of silently removing the game from the bundle purchase page.

This is a mass response to users reaching out concerning WWZ Aftermath keys showing a duplicate key error message in Steam.

"Thank you for reaching out to us here at Humble Bundle Support! I am so sorry to hear about the trouble that you are having with your WWZ Aftermath key.

I did some testing on my end and was able to see the "duplicate key" error message that this product is running into. That being said, I have contacted our Operations team to see if we can get more information on why this is happening. While awaiting a response, I will be placing this ticket on hold temporarily. As soon as I have an update for you, I will be sure to follow up as soon as possible!"

No, it's not. Fraud requires intent. Here, they offered a product they thought they'd be able to deliver, and then it turned out not to be available. It's not cool, but it's not fraud.

assumption of risk isn't applicable?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

This question makes no sense to me. In any case, fraud happens when someone represents something they know to be false or untrue. It has nothing to do with a product later becoming unavailable.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I recommend you to read this. It is a well known term and is easy to find on google.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Oh, I know what assumption of risk is. It's almost exclusively an affirmative defense, which means it is entered by a defendant against a plaintiff to mitigate damages. Which makes no sense in this case. Who do you think is assuming what risk? And under what theory of risk? Humble offered a bundle with goods which were available. Some goods later became unavailable. I see no fraud and no risk.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I was talking about the core of assumption of risk doctrine (the doctrine name/use seems to be too literal/specific on your country, wasn't aware, sorry). It is about negligence in a context where the one should have an ordinary prudence. There's plenty of documents on Steam about keys requests. Steam expressly tells developers that keys requests can be rejected. There's no doubt all documents on Steam says that Steam will give the final word. So, if you promise something that isn't in your hands already, you are assuming risks that you shouldn't, neither anyone ordinary would. If you own the duty of care and you don't behave like you should, you fully assume the risk of your consequences, even if you don't want to, nor expected to, because lack of reasonable care.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Thanks for explaining. I don't know what that is called, but it's definitely not assumption of risk - not in America, at least, and that's where Ziff-Davis/Humble and Sabre Studios do business (I'm not sure about the dev for Peppy's Adventure).

My guess is there is a very tenuous thread for negligence here, and certainly no fraud. Most internet business involves selling or transferring goods that are not in hand. While it's certainly true that Steam is well-documented as occasionally refusing keys, it's also well-documented as mostly supplying them. They surely fulfill requests in well over 95% of similar cases, and I'd guess that it's closer to 99.9% and that the refused cases are generally faulty or prohibited by Steam's TOS, as in the case of fake developers spamming keys to get users to buy cards. No supplier is expected under law to account for 100% certainty in delivery of goods: that would be absurd.

Generally the civil standard for liability here is "knew or should have known," or acting as a "reasonable and prudent person/entity" would act. Selling Steam keys is known and believed to be reliable in the vast supermajority of cases. It's unlikely that Humble made any misrepresentation, based on any known or predictable information, and every key seller on the Internet sells goods not in their possession with high confidence.

While I don't know one way or another, I am skeptical that a "duty of care" can be established by simply purchasing a game on the internet.

I should add that I am not a lawyer, though I work with lawyers.
