I actually enjoy the game. It is easy to play between games you take more "seriously." A bonus perk would be if you like the TV show there is a bit more information that can be learned through the game about the defiance universe. Alternatively... try it first.

Yes, if you like MMO's or want to like them then you should try defiance. When I played it it didn't feel like an MMO, more of a bordrlands style third person shooter.

Depends whether you like the style or not - it is a third-person MMORPG, so if you like either or both of those elements, you'll probably enjoy it. Personally, I enjoy the game... that said, it's not for everybody, and it pales in comparison to Borderlands 2, for example. It does, however, have Steam Trading Cards, if that interests you.
