The variables can be adjusted, say based on price etc. I am more for keeping the current state of things. Just wanted to see if the community is interested in some sort of system to encourage contribution. Reading the comments so far, most people agree the current system is perfectly fair :)

As a contributor who has still not won a game, I don't like this idea.

same here. There's just something simple about. you enter, everyone has the same chance to win, and life goes on.

I think I posted something similar to this, but my idea was that people who contribute have the option of spending 1x points for a single entry, or 3x points for two entries. It would just be an option to invest significantly more points into the giveaways for a slightly increased chance of winning. In fact over all if people actually entered twice into one giveaway with this system, then there would over-all be a better chance of winning in 'all' giveaways.

No! Getting the stars back when the giveaway isn't won? Really? ANYONE could make a $1 giveaway and enter for as many giveaways (of any price) as they want until they win. And they would even get away with it!
Even if they DIDN'T get their stars back: sponsoring a $1 (or even less for some DLCs) giveaway for an entry in a giveaway for $60 or even more; it's just ridiculous.
As I see it, implementing ANY PART of this would be the end of this site.
Next time, THINK about what you're suggesting, seriously!

I think they should have an extra slot, or get more points from the game they donated

I personally think you should get extra points for putting the game up, like 80% of the cost or something

There's a simple fix.. allow an option when setting up the gift "Allow only gifters to bid"
That way, those that have given can (at the discretion of the submitter) be the only ones that can win.
There has to be some weighting to stop humble bundle scammers gifting to get entry.. maybe an exclusion for certain "gameable" packages?

Personally I think its fine the way it is, simple and elegant, nobody gets anything extra, everyone in a giveaway has an equal chance and "Powergamers" can't game the system to win more, and gifting isn't a instant pass to "Premium" account where gifters gift amongst each other and laugh at the non gifters.
The only thing extra that I could see working is extra points from offering a game.

We can set them to have quarter of the points/dollars they are gifting and after 3 gifts add 10 to the point cap; thus giving them not a bigger chance to win but a wider array of choice since they have more to bet. Kinda like Dropbox's free storage upgrades or Steam's summer camp tickets.

I think we can all agree people contributing games are awesome and deserve a reward.
My proposition is to give them an edge in a giveaway they entered. Ok, what kind of
edge we talking about here? Chance, they will get slightly better chance than normal.
Heyyy... no, hold on and lets go through the details of what I am proposing.
Firstly, we introduce another stat, lets say stars. People like stars.
Each giveaway they create gives them a star. This stars can be then used to get
an extra entry in a giveaway they choose to enter. Crazy huh? Just like summer grand prize.
Lets look at why this makes sense. We limit the stars, to say 5. You create 5 giveaways
you get 5 stars. You really like a giveaway, you spend this 5 stars for 5 extra entries
to win. Stars can be spend on one giveaway at a time.
Wait, what if you do not win? Good question.
You get the stars back until you win a giveaway with them. Then you they turn into
confetti for the celebration.
So what do you think peeps?
