Pretty much anything released after Splinter Cell Conviction/Assassin's Creed 2 will require Uplay. Stick of truth is an exception though there may be others.

I Am ALive doesn't require Uplay.
As for recommended games, the Prince of Persia trilogy and AC: Black Flag. The PoP trilogy may feel a bit outdated nowadays but the games are still great fun to play. Black Flag along with AC 2 is the best ones in the series imo and the game is cheap so worth a try if you didn't play it yet.

"Anno 1404" is on sale. It's called "Dawn of Discovery" in the NA Steam store.
The pricing is a bit strange because the game is 75% off and the addon "Venice" only 50%,
making it one cent cheaper to buy them separately (for me at least .. might be different
depending on where you live). In any case it's a great game even without the addon.
With the latest patch it's also completly DRM free .. no Uplay, no TAGES
(which it used to have) ...does not even require the Steam client to run.

My point is .. the package and the addon are overpriced compared to the game itself.
The "Venice" addon is really nice to have, it ads one extra faction, two extra ships and a few
quests for the campaign, but that's it. The game is very playable without. Also, I think,
people should save at least a little something when buying a package. I admit, I own the
gold version, bought it during some x-mas or summer sale way back, probably at an all time
low, when the package was cheaper than buying it individually.
In any case it's probably one of the coolest games Ubi ever published, at least if you like
medieval city builders and economic simulations.

I've been looking at that game also, but the reviews about being a bad port are holding me back. If you get it I would appreciate hearing if its really that bad or not.

It was a launch title. But that aside, it was used to highlight the unique controller. The game was designed to make use of the second screen with gyroscope. No way that can be adapted properly

yeah, 4 should never have been made. Can't blame them for experimenting, and it did lead into 5, but altogether a fuckup. 2 is not bad. The only thing wrong with it is that it isn't 3.

Yeah, Primal feels like it was going to be smaller release like Blood Dragon and not full AAA price.

As one who used Melee and the Bow in 3, I could see myself playing a Far Cry without guns. Plus, I love the unique setting for the game. I'm just not ready to drop $40 on any game right now., especially when I have so many games in my backlog left to play.

I got Watch_Dogs and am positively surprised by two things:
- it works on my computer just fine and looks fine
- it's not a bad game at all after all the negative stuff that I've heard
