The developer of an asset flip game is abusive and breaking numerous Steam rules. I think they should be banned. Let alone the game itself is a pathetic asset flip.

I'm not going to call them out (that's against the rules right?) but if you look through this thread, you might happen to see a developer swearing, avoiding censor filter and harassing members.

It's not very serious, but nevertheless in my opinion, this highly unprofessional developer shouldn't be allowed on Steam. I thought maybe it might be a good idea to share awareness of this situation.

Anyway, since you probably don't care, have some key drops and gibs :)

Maybe is not the place or the moment to ask this but... What's an "asset flip"?

I like indie games, and recently this term has become very common.

Just to note, a global Steam mod closed the thread not the dev.

At least the video is hilarious(ly bad).

Asset flipping itself is indeed not against Steam rules, but just about everyone, including Valve, dislikes it.

Valve admitted that asset flips are a problem that they want to get rid of

Hah, you found the tip of the iceberg there.

Berdyev—if that is even his real name—has created half a dozen fake companies over the past few years on Steam to avoid Steam store filters:
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/Sentinels_of_the_Store#announcements/detail/1443820031905685263
This way people who look up a new game on Steam won't see that he is a notorious asset flipper and a generic fucktard who keeps trying to ban ciritics or anyone who points out his usual practises, yet he is not having enough brains to at least register a new email address for his "companies".

Additionally, this particular game confirms that he is laundering money. How? It is getting a 50-dollar DLC:
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/fidgetspinnersimulator/discussions/0/1471967615849962284/
Apart from that thread, he also set up a mass giveaway for the game here (you can most likely see it among the featured giveaways). So, he will get 50 idiots who will own the DLC so Valve will take longer to find out that the rest of the purchases will come only from certain proxies, most likely from countries like the Seychelles, Panama, Cyprus, the Caymans, and all other countries mostly living from international money laundering and tax evasion.

By the way, we are talking about an official Steam partner, so it is not like you are trying to call out an individual person. He is Berdyev, he decided to use his name as his company name initially, and he is doing this in the public. Let people know it is him, so eventually maybe some other will pick up the story before Valve steps in. Let the press know what kind of filters Steam has with its business partners, let them know that they are willing to overlook even potential money laundering for those 100-dollar Direct fees.

I haven't heard of that one. Why are so many devs like this now :(

In that case it's very likely true what they did, that their translator got too egoistic and started threatening people, and they got kicked out. So it was a one-time thing only - they corrected the mistake.

Yup, the translator of Devoid of Shadows :D

On the other side, it doesn't help that there are also people who think that using store bought assets, no matter how much work or effort is put in the rest of the game, make it a worthless asset flip.

Not that this is an example of that. But, there are people peddling the "you didn't make everything from scratch=asset flip" misconception in the ink posted.

I absolutely agree with this, some of my favourite games use stock UE assets and admittingly bought assets. I only see a game as an aset flip if it is selling store assets without even trying to make something decent out of it.

Unfortunately that dev on Steam isn't the first to do so and he won't be the last to do so.

Just a quick update, Valve has terminated their contract with Berdyev aka [bc]interactive aka redsquare studios.
All the games are now removed from the store.

More info can be read here

It's good to know that Steam is actually taking action :D

And... now the dev is auctioning keys on the game’s forums -_-
http://steamcommunity.com/app/736600/discussions/0/1693785669870781284/
This can’t possibly be allowed? I’ve reported their profile; hopefully more people do too so that Steam takes notice.

Not fake, just not Steam keys. And if you look, the dev was actually pretty careful not to say "Steam keys", he just said "keys".
