whats the difference from just putting in a hdmi cable and using steam you usually would wen you want to game on a tv?
All they did was create a different interface, all that time for just another new interface :/

I've always had my computers connected to TVs. This'll just make it more comfy :3
Oh, and it's not like they halted the development of Episode 3 just for this. It's optional either way so no reason to naysay it, giving people options is always a good thing (unless it's easy mode in Dark Souls apparently, that'll make people flip their shit)

EDIT: Watched it, looks great.
If it's going to be free and you can play games on it I'm in.

I don't see the point in this. I've connected my PC to my "television" (well, i have a video projector) long time ago and also played games with it. And i'm sure i don't wanna browse the internet or chat with friends with it. Additionally, most games have no controller support

Are you new to youtube lol? It's been like this for the longest time. Likes/dislikes are updated instantly, views aren't.

I've had my pc hooked up to my tv using a wireless keyboard with a built in touch pad to launch games from the couch for awhile now - i've been waiting for this for what seems like forever, it will be used heavily on my end. Thanks for the convenience valve it looks awesome =)

...which you can control using a gamepad. Which is nice for me since I like playing using my TV as a monitor, but that makes it super awkward to use a mouse + keyboard. Its still got quite a few bugs, but overall, I'm looking forward to the full release

It's awesome and all, because I would love something like this, but the biggest problem there is, Valve has no control over. It's hard to play a lot of games, even one's with controller support, even ones that also have a console version where its easier because its meant for a TV, from a distance because the text in the game is way too small to read from your couch or bed or whatever.

so far Big Picture is pretty fail. it says I'm in "compatibility mode", which I'm not, and barely runs... like it's laggy to the point of 1/2 fps. so yeah, trash. maybe if it worked it might be neat on the tv, but until they address the performance and bugs, it's just unusable.

That's my biggest complaint as well. The performance of this thing is terrible.
On my desktop I hear my graphics card go to into performance mode, with the fans increasing. Maybe not a dealbreaker but for what this is... I don't think that should be the case. On my HTPC I get a useless framerate that makes it feel like melasis.
Granted, that's not a machine I'd ever play games on... but still, it runs software such as XBMC without a hitch and visually this does not seem all that much more complex.
