So, would I be correct in assuming this is a site similar in idea to something like Backloggery?

Eh, I'll stick to current sites. Sites with a database have one major flaw, they often lack obscure titles, and I own a fair number.

Yeah ditto, sorry. I see the advantages of drawing from game databases for graphical purposes, but if you're confined only to database games then it's not worth it.

Looks really nice ;)
Some things that would improve:
-link games to Steam store,so when I click on a game's image it takes me to steam or something similar;

-separate lists for all platforms.Would look better then having them all in the same list.Make some bigger banners with the logos of the platforms on them;

You have a comment/entry ratio of 1/10 and are not here for free games?Come on.

never really understood the comment entry thing....its just mindlessly spamming the word "thanks" in everything and doesn't actually take effort or mean much. seems more sincere to thank them when they send it, that way they'll at least see it individually instead of as part of a textwall to scroll through. seems like it'd be easy enough to make sg+ do it for you(not that they would, more that it'd probably be roughly as automatic as typing it manually for most people)

but on the other hand, they're giving free stuff, so why not type a string of 6 letters when you enter. thanks isn't such an unreasonable thing to expect.

PSN and XBox Live would allow a version of it, though not to the same extent. Raptr has a list of games I've played on those consoles.

2 things.

  1. I think there needs to be more of a distinction between 'beaten' and 'completed' since they kinda mean the same thing.

  2. Swap out the white pics with the console logos. Because they're in the same field as the games themselves, it makes the design a little confusing. Maybe if you had say, a banner for PC games across the page, then the PC games under that. Then a banner under that for PS2 games, then the PS2 games under that, and so on.

Other than that, looks good. I like cataloguing my games and CDs. The layout is nice.

Look at Backloggery, they use the same terms.

Unfinished - No significant accomplishments.

(B) Beaten - The main portion or objective of the game has been completed. Usually marked by the defeat of a final boss and/or viewing of the credits.

(C) Completed - Must meet the following requirements (where applicable):

Overall game completion percentage is maxed out
All extras are acquired
Every game mode is finished
Beaten on the hardest difficulty level
Optional levels/dungeons and bosses are beaten
Best ending viewed
All major item-based upgrades are collected

Minor items and lists not included in the above are irrelevant
The highest rankings (i.e. S-Ranking a level) aren't needed unless necessary for one of the above requirements.

Straight off the top of my head, Full English language support. Or at least edit the OP to indicate it's a non-English site

I like the look of the users pages but I was put right off when I got t the registration page.

  1. maybe order the games in the list into consoles a little more clearly, like have the console at the top and the games below it?
  2. maybe a link to the games steam page so people can read about the game and maybe purchase it if they like it?
  3. maybe have an option to chat with you? so if people are unsure about whether to buy the game or not they can ask you for advice?
  4. distinguish the difference between beaten and completed?
  5. add a background to your page to give it a more homely look?
  6. make a link to your steam account so people can play games with you?
  7. design an epic profile picture that distinguishes you from others?
  8. maybe make a youtube page with you doing play throughs and have a link?

sorry if these ideas are already mentioned, hope im of any help.

Replace the stock header images with something relating to the actual site. I think the layout of the profile pages should be a little bit more segregated to the background, don't be afraid of contrast. Have the thumbnails to the icons link to their steam webpage or an equivalent such as amazon or whatnot. Having some form of statistics other than 'completed' and so forth might be good, such as if you can integrate steam you could add in total play time, how long it took to complete each game, etc. Mostly though, layout needs a good bit of fine tuning. Great work so far, though!

A consolidation of all the stuff I think the site needs.

  1. A better table design for the splitting of the games. The way it looks currently is a mess.
  2. Integration with Steam, PSN and Xbox Live to save trouble adding the games for those.
  3. Cut down the number of top game systems to 3. Makes it easier to see them all.
  4. Allow for customization of the looks for each person.
  5. Have a separate section for those "gems". Also make it collapsible.
  6. Allow for a dark or light theme.

That's all from me.

Features I want from a game library:

  • Add games quickly.
  • Select where the game is. (That's the most important item! When I have games on tons of stores and bundle sites, losing track of them is a serious problem.)
  • Select platforms for the games (Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, in addition to consoles which I care less about).

I don't much care about how much I finished a game. If I don't remember that, I can replay it.

Adding games quickly is very important. Entering hundreds of games can be very time consuming, and should be made as quick and easy as possible. Syncing with Steam (and possibly other services) would be good, but even just allowing me to add a bunch of games at once would be a win.

A good "add games" page might include a text field where I can enter a list of games separated by commas or semicolons, and a default platform list and store. After submitting the list the page will display all the games one on each line, show me where the name wasn't enough to identify the game and allow me to fix that, and let me change platforms and store individually, then submit the whole lot.

Make the image logos slightly transparent (but not the status indicator). Fully opaque on mouseover, together with a custom tooltip listing the name of the game, date bought, date last played, date completed. Games should be clickable; modal dialog to show details, complete cover art and link to steam/origin/whatever. Sort by status, date or name. Add a search filter for the title. Use AJAX. When filtered, display the active filter with an X to remove it.

The site's good. I'll give my suggestions. (I don't know how to format here, so uh, please understand the wall of text, thanks :) ) First off, make a tab for games. (Example: A tab for PC games, XBOX games, PS2 / PS3 etc.) That will make the navigation easier. Same with the stats. Make a tab for "Completed Games" ,"Beaten" and "Unfinished". The wall of game covers looks untidy in the eyes. Also, can you make the background black so that the game covers will be highlighted. If available too, make a sync with Steam Games, xBox Live and other game centers (origin, uplay etc.).

That's all, thanks for reading this. :)

yeah ....
1) put a good sleek and fast loading template that looks eye candy

2) use labels and draft sections like pc/ps/xbox games

3) use sections for ur achievements/screenshots/videos/workshop if any

4) arrange games list alphabetically if possible or make category view in terms of series or gameplay type like FPS covers
l4d2 , tf2 etc

5) steam integration will be awesome , many people advising it :)
