As we have seen many people jump onto Steamgifts and make a new giveaway thinking its gonna get them the game. Well what if new accounts could not make give aways for at least a week. They could only enter them.

Maybe this would help them understand that you have to enter giveaways to get games, you don't create giveaways to get games. While this would not solve the issue totally, it might help lighten the load on support a little and help all of us worry a little less about fake giveaways. How many times have we seen some one new to the site, create a giveaway right away never to be seen again. Too many to count, this would also help against stuff like that and ease the load (be it very minor) on the server.

Maybe some messages when they go to make a giveaway too. "You're new here, you can not make a giveaway in your first week, we suggest you look around, read the FAQ and see how the site works before creating a giveaway. If you are a developer and want to giveaway some games, contact support. Thank you for joining Steamgifts." Or something like that.

New accounts can't make giveaways for at least 1 week

Please, let's not turn this into a Valve fuck up. :P
I agree with the requirement to read the FAQ before creating a giveaway, or at least a detailed explanation about the concept behind giveaway creating when you first create a giveaway. But blocking new users from creating giveaways wouldn't be so great. I've seen multiple new users starting gifting right away instead of entering giveaways.

I think some kind of pop-up would suffice, the first time they tried to create a giveaway. Have it ask them whether they understand that they are agreeing to give this game to someone else, perhaps also with a link to the FAQ and a suggestion to read it.

I don't think a mandatory waiting period would be the best option, but it would probably be easier to setup.

click click no read.

it would need to be in a few languages mainly russian since they are the ones who mostly do it (not counting the trolls).

Wouldn't (probably) help. Those who don't want to read - will not read no matter the language.
Though then they will not have an excuse of "not understanding" whatever is written in "not my dear beloved gibberish".
Hmm... maybe I should try to translate at least some parts of FAQ and Guidelines to Russian? I can try when I have free time... Though without Russian keyboard process would be slow - I still can't type "blind" and signing keys with marker doesn't work well for me.

But it's already translated to Russian. O.o It's all the other languages that are missing.

Wich are the steps to contribute with a translation of the FAQ? I can translate it to spanish, and I'm sure many people would like to contribute translating it to other languages.

oops... Q.Q
Never even thought about checking it. XD After 15 years in USA it's on subconscious level that anything and everything is in English (unless I go to Russian sites/stores/etc) - or at best (worst) Spanish or Mandarin.
But then: we can see from experience that people simply don't want to read - and just don't, as a lot of those "fake" GAs comes from Russian users...

I say region lock everywhere, restrict all the stuff, captcha the things!

And then get to the choppa and watch the natives tear each other to bits.

I'm in favor of everything having a captcha. Posts, threads, giveaways, entries, F5, the back button, my bathroom, my dog.

Make an itstoohard puzzle where the answers come from the FAQ. They have to solve the puzzle in order to complete their registration.

One week or one month doesnt matter, there are people registered here that didnt read the rules in years...so its pointless...maybe it should be pointed better out, that you have to give the game, when you create a giveaway...but again...i guess its pointless ppl will just over-read this...

TL;TR Its pointless...

You should have to sacrifice your first born to SG in order to enter. It would eliminate a lot of traffic and make it easier for the rest of us to win.

My firstborn would easily sacrifice anyone seriously getting in his way of gaming. >.> (or in the way of his gaming? sigh... ESL, sorry)

I don't see the point. I guess that's harsh of me, but I think that to accidentally make a giveaway you either have to have some serious issues with english language (in which case a waiting period or reading the faq simply won't help, specially since the current faq is aviable only in 2 languages) or to be pretty dumb (sorry, yes, I'm bad today) or don't care in the slightest to read what's written (so why would you bother reading that boring faq?), since the giveaway creation page isn't exactly hiding it's purpose:

You can also select gift if you wish to add keys after the giveaway ends, rather than now.

If you misunderstood what creating a giveaway does, this is the point where you should start wondering "me? add what keys?"

The number of copies of the game you're looking to give away.

or

Keys should be separated by new lines. Please enter Steam redeemable keys, or gift URLs from Steam or Humble Bundle. Key giveaways for 50 copies or greater will be automatically distributed to the winners, while giveaways with less than 50 keys will allow you to review the winners before the keys are sent.

Should make it pretty clear you are not getting anything. At this point, it should also be clear that this site isn't creating keys or something.

Select the type of users that are able to enter your giveaway.

This should make it even clearer you are not getting anything. Unless you think you are chosing who is allowed to give you the game?
