A Youtubers forum. He has a few older games uploaded on his site since you cant get them anymore. He will remove them if asked by the developers but till then his community can play.

It is. since SWAT 4 wasn't offically sold anymore, he was allowed to give it free to download.

Official perrmission, no. But the gamecompany that made Swat 4 doesnt exist anymore. So no it might not be legal, but i wouldnt call it illegal either. Its a gray zone xD but its a great game so yeah.

It doesn't really matter whether the company exists anymore or not. That doesn't just give a free pass for this kind of stuff...

It's also not really a gray area. The guy uploads somebody elses property and unless he got permission to do so, that's illegal. I'm not saying that it's necessarily a bad thing though. While I do not support piracy at all, if a game is simply not available to buy anymore, I personally think it's okay to download it (however if it ever becomes available again, you should really just buy it).

Yes but bluedrake uploaded before activision, and then again is activision making money from a game that they didnt make. If it becomes available ill definitly buy it on steam but right now ill go on with the downloaded version :) And for the legal stuff, well i dont support piracy but im not sure what to think of these games.

Yeah i said on steam :) But what i said is that it isnt activisions game either, it is made by Irrational Games and released by Vivendi Universal, and yet i cant find anything from activision.

I still play them outside of Steam with the original SWAT 4 + The Stetchkov Syndicate disks.

And there are on moddb some nice mods and maps to be found for them.

This game is such a laugh with friends in multiplayer. Pepper spray someone. end up getting yourself, crack up whilst they handcuff you.

I think GoG has to take time to patch the games to run on modern systems, but that may just be in some particular cases.

Developers not likely since they are usually not paid per unit sold, they were paid a salary to develop the game. The $ would be paid to whoever owns the distribution rights of the property. Most likely EA (or whoever bought out the dev) if what was said above is correct.
