We have the site scan what games you have available for gifting. When you submit a game, it check to see if you have a giftable copy. If you do, a little "Verified!" appears next to the game. Sound like a good idea?

If yall're willing to code it, sounds great! I'm not sure it's really needed, but I absolutely only see upsides if yall do implement it.

No, i dont like this idea. My first win, he messed up the timing, and made me wait 2 days cause he didnt have the money than.
BUT he gave it to me. so, yeah... idk about this.
What about not giving points until the give away is confirmed? That would require a lot less CPu, and bandwidth.

I agree with not giving away points until after the gift is confirmed received. Or at least for "non verified" giveaways.

Just a little OT.
With the new system is also possible to get a gift from someone, don't claim it, and trade/sell it to a 3th person later.

Maybe it's opportune, since the owner of steamgifts is re-coding the module, that he puts a check inside that make sure the person who receive the gift actually added it at his library

Sounds good, as long as people can still gift copies without NEEDING to verify.

I think it'd be great if there was a little check mark next to the verified ones, but if you make it all verified you can't gift CD keys so make it optional to verify.

I support this, but as an optional measure. If only verified giveaways are allowed it blocks anyone from buying after the winner is declared and prevents anyone from giving away Steam games purchased retail (CDKey) or from other locations like Direct2Drive, GreenManGaming etc.

It won't truly prevent fake giveaways but it will provide a fair degree of extra confidence and security for most of them.

Nope. Better yet, get some people call them Moderators. Giveaway creator gotta send game to Moderator and mod will later send it to winner. With new Steam trade update it is possible to regift.

Steamgifts doesn't want to have access to any keys, just because they can't guarantee any security for them. they don't want to be blamed for a hundred giveaways stolen by some hacker, or even due to Valve baning them just because they don't like this site for some reason. Better every gifter holds the gift himself.

also you can't verify keys, that you can activate on steam, without actually activating them.

i have an even better idea! you can give away anything you want, but only verified giveaways will generate points.
that will stop those exploited keys floods
(look at all those dirt farmers, giving away keys in nearest future to get enough points for everything%)
and i'm not yet mentioning HIB exploiters.

It's a not bad idea, but I do have a question: how does this affect things, such as Humble Bundles, gift codes, etc? Really it'd just create an air of distrust whenever someone comes up with say preorder giveaways, or HIB giveaways, etc.

preorders show up like regular gifts, and people aren't too keen on Humble Bundles at the moment anyway

Maybe a system where people who have enough positive feedback also have some sort of trusted sign to show that they are probably ok even if they claim it is a code
