Afaik the same bundle was available for the same price under another name just one month earlier. They are just hoping to generate some more sales.

Eh, even then it's a pretty irrelevant difference. Four of their games, same price. But this time using the Unity drama to make some people freak out and buy.

It's too bad the games are uninteresting (to me).

People need to chill... that Unity thing is not going to happen as planned / described so far. They're already backpedalling and they will do so even more.

There has been no backpedaling yet, I have no idea why you claim that.

They only multiple times tried "to explain" the situation, making bold claims that all fears would be unwarranted because they claim to be able to identify and prevent all possible issues. And nobody believes that they can do that.

Unity has scrambled to clarify and in one key case alter what it has said about its policies around the fees.

Source: https://www.axios.com/2023/09/13/unity-runtime-fee-policy-marc-whitten

Basically they initially wanted to charge per install, even repeatedly on the same device. Then they said only the first install per device would count. So yeah, among the "explanations" there was at least one instance of backpedalling.

And there will surely be more when they face the reactions of Nintendo (Pokemon GO was made with Unity), Blizzard (Hearthstone was made with Unity), Microsoft & Sony (they want to charge game streaming platforms like Game Pass, Playstation Plus and so on per install) and others.

As for Game Pass and other subscription services, Whitten said that developers like Aggro Crab would not be on the hook, as the fees are charged to distributors, which in the Game Pass example would be Microsoft.

And they will eventually face EU law.

Are they not scrambling precisely because people haven't been chill? Seems like a bad idea to stop now when they haven't entirely backed off their plans.

I am talking about people like Kairosoft trying to abuse it for selling their games and people possibly falling for that due to FOMO. Of course people fighting the actual issue shouldn't chill.

I have three other Kairosoft games and like them though these games waste lots of time :(
So I bought the first bundle when it came out.
Never thought there would be the second and the third....
Buy all three bundle with just three games' usual price. That's great!
Thank you for the info!

PS:
Hot Springs Story 2, Dungeon Village 2, Pocket Academy 3 and Mega Mall Story 2 are the newest in their series.
The ones in the bundle are older games.

Bundle #4 is now available and looks like it's their last bundle regarding Unity according to the bundle description on its page.

They are back pedaling A LOT now.
No game developer will pull their games from the store just because of the conditions now.
They can keep the current version of Unity and won't pay extra.

Lmao, all the opportunities of the unity engine, and these guys managed to make 49 of the same game. It's not like they used rpgmaker and you could say that's how all rpgmaker games look like. They legit had no other inspiration and no other ambition. Posted the same game 50 times on steam.

Also this dev is in no way at harms way, as none of their games generates 200k a year, and I don't see them getting those installs either.

If you want to consider buying something from a dev that might withdraw their game from steam because of the unity terms, look at their reviews so you can compare whether they actually have an audience large enough that would generate them 200k in both scenarios, and compare it with the year released. But lets be honest, most people are too simple and can't be bothered to check.

Despite that individual games are still way far away from the 200k mark, having 50 games that are the same(and not one game that is in a different genre) seems to generate them quite some money as they figured if one is received well, might as well release a ton more that are exactly the same and change nothing. Steam shovelware basically. If I had no soul I'd probably get in on this too. If people complained about ubisoft and the far cry games being the same, I wonder what they think about this dev.
