Is it a turn-based 4x4 or RTS space game? Store info doesn't say.

Take on the Universe: Play against up to seven opponents and build up – or break – alliances at will. Discover an innovative and dynamic simultaneous turn-based gameplay. Permit instant jump-in for your ongoing online games. Define your own custom civilizations and confront the ones created by your friends.
Looks like turn-based (At least for multiplayer) and probably-maybe the battles in real-time ?

I was ignoring this thread for a while, since I assumed it would be yet another Kickstarter I can't afford/don't want to support, but damn, this is sexy.

The main problem I have with these models is one thing
FANS ARE STUPID
Yes every once and awhile you get some gem of an idea or whatever. But realistically 99% of the people are just idiots with no real useful opinion on anything, especially if you're talking game design. 'voting' implies that you somehow have better knowledge of game design and such. The D3 forums are FULL of idiots like this and it's painful to watch. I can't imagine voting on a feature and having a bunch of morons vote for something that is obviously horrible.

Of course there will be stupid people but the design team is not stupid, they won't take stupid ideas. I rather think it's good that they talk with the people who will actually buy/bought their game ! They might get a better sense of where they should go and some people actually do have great ideas ! Also, we're not talking about deep stuff here, the game is mostly finished. For instance, the only the things i have seen being voted on are the sigil of a faction and a ship design. Don't come and tell me you need to be the smartest person to know what appeals the most to you :P

The problem now is that people who paid for the game are going to assume that if you didn't actually implement a feature they voted for and that won, then they're going to be very very angry and entitled and all the things idiots on the internet do when they don't actually have to interact with real people to discuss something. What if some incredibly incompetent idea actually wins a poll for some reason. Can you then not implement it? Also if all the voting is for inconsequental stuff, then people are going to question why they pre-ordered at the 'premium' level.
That's what community managers are for. They filter out all the garbage that makes up the internet, and filter to the devs actual implementable ideas or combine the massive bug thread into a bullet point of fixes. They need to do this otherwises devs would spend all theri time reading the forums and trying to figure out what a bunch of petulant 10 year olds want.
I should perhaps state that I have no real opinion on the game itself. I hope the devs amke an awesome game. It looks like a 4X like Sins and such and I'd love to play another game like that. I just hope they don't get derailed by all the 'democracy' that comes with their current model, and concentrate more on getting a game actually finished.

I have to mostly agree with this post. I really appreciate developers who listen to their fans/customers and especially when they continue to support the game after release. But, so many of those "fans" are impatient, immature, idiots. I read a ton of threads and posts in the Steam forums for Hard Reset, and it made me want to start beating posters with a rusty flail. They bitched, moaned, and basically bullied the public relations guy into making some changes. Granted, some ideas were good just as some were not, but there was enough self-entitled impatience festering in there to make me sick.
Point being, I hope this game gets a better slice of fans, and their efforts to be open to the community work out for the best. I need to learn more about this game to see if it is for me.
