I'm from Canada, and I've recently learnt that it's cheaper to buy games from Steam Canada than Steam USA. I'm just wondering, is it okay to offer to buy games for people so that they save money?

This info would be helpful, because the winter sale is coming up and I have some friends in the USA who I play with. Thanks!

Keep in mind that currency processing fees can be extreme. Even just going through Paypal, you can get a pretty noticeable exchange fee even with Friends & Family (which offers no protections if you get scammed, versus the standard, higher-fee seller payment approach).

So it may not end up as favorable as you expect :X

Not sure about Canada specifically, though. If it works out favorably, go for it.

I saw no mention of either cake or booze in your plan, ergo, it must not be a plan worth considering!

But seriously, that's a bit too involved for me, have fun with that :X

I think you should direct that straight toward the OP, they're bound to be far more interested in the topic than I am :P

But thanks for the details ;P

Up until the last week or so, Norway was cheapest on most games. Lately it's been Japan or New Zealand. Guess the krone went up in value some with the Euro.

i usually see canada in 3rd or 4th, but there are a few games where they're the only ones w/ a discount (that football manager game would be one)...

south korea is 'new' global region but their discounts are only about 1/2 as much.

You probably already know this, but just in case... :) I suggest limiting yourself to actual friends, at least for now... :) If you buy a Steam game for a random person in exchange for Paypal money, and next week the Paypal money disappears, that random person still has the game, and Valve won't do anything about it.

I know them because they're my cousin's (He lives in Texas) friends, so no need to worry :)

As long as you can trust the other party, you're good to go. Steam doesn't care about trading games as long as they're bought with legitimate money. Now, granted, the ToS probably forbids resale, but the practice is so widespread someone taking advantage of better regional pricing for a few friends is not going to even pop up on the radar compared to, say, greymarket resellers.
