Bur the cars are counted as 1 DLC, there are 2 DLC in total, you saying you get both 2 with it?

I read the dlc off the list i see in steam library. I'm not sure what the difference on store is. Hope this helps.

It seems you get all the cars but not the cheat DLC for the map.

You don't get "all the cars". With the "All DLC cars" pack, you get these cars:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1286912/Need_for_Speed_Payback__Chevrolet_Colorado_ZR2/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1286915/Need_for_Speed_Payback__Alfa_Romeo_Quadrifoglio/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1286914/Need_for_Speed_Payback__Range_Rover_Sport_SVR/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1286913/Need_for_Speed_Payback__Aston_Martin_DB5_Superbuild/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1286916/Need_for_Speed_Payback__Pontiac_Firebird_Superbuild/

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1286903/Need_for_Speed_Payback__MINI_John_Cooper_Works_Countryman/

and only the last two are already included in the Deluxe Edition. And while the "All DLC cars" pack on Origin is 4,99€ (50% off) pretty regularly, on Steam it rarely goes on sale ever and has never been below 7,49€.

https://gg.deals/pack/need-for-speed-payback-all-dlc-cars-bundle/
https://steamdb.info/app/1262590/

I've been owning the Deluxe Edition for a year now and have been waiting for the "All DLC cars" pack to at least get 50% off on Steam since then.

Edit: there's also these two smaller packs, but they have never been on sale at all:

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1328032/Need_for_Speed_Payback_Chevrolet_Colorado_ZR2_Range_Rover_Sport_SVR__Alfa_Romeo_Quadrifoglio_Bundle/
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1328031/Need_for_Speed_Payback_Pontiac_Firebird__Aston_Martin_DB5_Superbuild_Bundle/

TL;DR: it's a mess.

So it's better to buy the game on Origin?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If you want a better chance at getting the missing DLCs as cheap as possible and don't care about Steam achievements and such...

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

But you basically are letting it go over 2,50 extra discount?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It's 2,50€ difference and waiting time. On Steam the last 7,49€ sale for the DLC pack was in March, on Origin the last 4,99€ sale was last month. If you don't care about it being on Steam, it would be the better way.

Personally I bought it on Steam a year ago because I care at least a little bit about the achievements being on Steam. Thus I am still hoping the DLC pack will be 4,99€ or less on Steam some day.

Yeah, since i got so much invested i also tend to rather have everything as possible on steam.

But one of the top negative reviews says a controller is not supported, that true?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If you're talking about this review:

https://steamcommunity.com/id/NyboR/recommended/1262580/

That's not a top review, it's just the latest. And they have played the game for 0.1h. I would assume there would be a lot more complaints if it was a general problem.

PC Gaming Wiki says it has controller support:
https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Need_for_Speed_Payback

Doesn't mean that any and every controller works fine out of the box though, but it doesn't seem to be a general problem. I haven't played it yet, so I can't speak to that myself.

Yeah, meant more it was on top on the review pile (showing first) didn't looked at his hours but he probably quit cause he couldn't get it to work, maybe he had a cheap one.

I got an a xbox controller, usually they tend to be fine on many games.

Thanks.

Which goes along the rating percentage, 88% -> 1 out of 10 shown is negative. (recents don't get filtered, I see 2 more there)

Yes, this is difficult to digest for me. How is it Steam users rate the game very positive while metacritic user reviews are only 39% positive. Both groups played the same game or didn't they?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Metacritic does not require you to actually own the game, so anyone can write there, yet still far fewer reviews than on Steam.
Seems like they have more of an issue with loot boxes.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Two things:

Metacritic is the most useless user review system ever made, it's literally worthless, can be botted in two minutes and dumbasses spam 0/10 reviews like there's no tomorrow by people who never touched the game.

Steam reviews don't have score scales, only Positive/Negative.

Good price, but I already own Forza Horizon 4, which I prefer it more than NFS.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

After trying several NFS titles during a free origin month, and having played Forza Horizon 4 and 5 beforehand, NFS games look like random indie projects made with existing assets by someone who wasn't 100% sure what they're doing compared to Forza.

Something like that was unthinkable back in NFS2-5 days, Underground 2, first Most Wanted... but here we are.

I personally feel NFS issues began with Underground. It was here they first left their roots. And after its 'amazing success' they kind of lost their identity chasing the next underground (Sad because Underground 1, Undercover and Need for Speed are the worst in the series IMO)
They found a way back in Hot Pursuit 2010 but immediately lost it with Burnout Paradise: Cops and Robbers 2012. Its gone steadily downhill from there.
I would recommend everyone playing Porsche Unleashed and to get an idea of what golden age NFS games used to be and how closer it was to Forza games of today.

Comment has been collapsed.

I've spent years enjoying NFS2, 4 and Porsche Unleashed. The only two I really liked afterwards were Underground 2 and Most Wanted (PS2). Any NFS afterwards was just... not it (correcting myself - one of the many Hot Pursuits was awesome). So happy we have Forza nowadays.

I've read a bit about it, everyone who progressed more than 3 missions in the game says the same, if you want to progress faster you need to get youe credit card. I'm not bothered about games not running on the Steam Deck cause I don't have one, I'm looking to experiment with Linux gaming though.

Having Achievements on steam is always great but not a requirement .

It's nice enough if you like the classic NFS formula (which hasn't been copied by any modern racing game for some god forsaken reason), but it controls like absolute donkey ass. Seriously. I have no idea how they could make this trilogy of NFS games, test it and think it's fine. Because my goodness, it is not fine. Besides, my game suddenly stopped working one day (it instantly crashes after opening) and I could never finish it. Reinstalling and basic troubleshoot did no good. At this price, though, worth it. Meh price for meh game.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The Run isn't great either. Heat is probably the best out of the new ones, but my favorites are the Underground series or the original Most Wanted. Did you know the 2012 version of Most Wanted was going to be a sequel to the original at first? Yeah.. that got scrapped. There's a preview of it that you can watch. So damn sad that EA didn't go through with it

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I also tied heat, beat the story in like 5 hours and eventually found nothing interesting left to do in order to farm for most cars.
even the map felt unfinished
It was ghost's best need for speed and my gut tells me EA pulled the rug near the end of production. that game just feels like it could be a good live service game to update during 3 years

Currently playing crew 2, and while the mechanics for anything other than street cars are nonsensical, unbalanced and unconfortable, the content and map quality makes it far more entertaining than current NFS. and clearly that team isnt very good with racing games either but its the model difference. NFS is made to be forgotten the moment a new one is announced.
Not that the current team at crew is doing a great job, they screw things up with updates and then cant figure out their own code to fix simple things, so they just ignore it.
