Use your own judgement :)
I just check ratio as real sent/ received from SGTools script instead of shown in the profile.
Also if some guy have won more than given, check steam profile to confirm he is new or just have 1000+ games & on collecting spree instead of playing them.(nothing wrong with collecting as long as you don't have 40% of your steam library filled with won giveaways)

Some of us who have too many games to play actually do "family" sharing. It gives you more value from your collection, and it's a nice way to keep the kids on the living room computer from making a fool of you by saying/doing things in your name.

Bump and thanks! Not really sure about my definition of a 'good steam gifts' profile, but I reckon anyone with a better ratio than me is probably OK...

How do you judge the partecipation in the forums though?

i think you forgot one factor: sympathy. if you like a guy (nohomo!), he maybe doesn't need an absurdly good ratio to deserve a spot on your whitelist. :)
and on the other hand, there might be members, who meet all your requirements - but behave like dicks. so they probably won't get a spot on your whitelist. ;)

this may be the worst joke of the week. which is also kind of an achievement, i guess. ^^

I don't really care about their ratios as long as they have activated all of their wins.
My whitelist is just nice people I see regularly on the forum.

Haha it is always nice to see different people do different things in their spare time. This whole "gaming" thing seems to be an excuse for many hours trying to find the best deal (me), hours trading, looking video's en reviews, collecting games, talking on fora with total strangers for others and in your case a mathematical approach to reading profiles. Who is actually gaming nowerdays?
I wish you all the luck finding a working equation and if it does not work out you can always stay with the advise kraken gave. Use your own judgement. But he, I do not want to spoil your idea of fun :) Thank you for the GA by the way.

Sorry for having such a bad SteamGifts profile.
I think everyone without a bear on his profile pic has a good SG profile :3

Ah. I'd think I'm actually the definition of a bad profile. When I originally joined SteamGifts, I was just looking to fill my library with games since I couldn't afford much (low income household with no job) and just looking to have fun. I'd joined a ratio-balancing group early on. :P So I'm more of a member to an exclusive group than actively here in SG's. but more and more do I see how blacklists is a big thing, and tried discussing it a lot so I'm sure I've been added to even more, lol. I don't really have any requirements for blacklists/whitelists yet myself, but I find the topic interesting. I try not to be too judgy with profiles since I understand where some people are coming from, at least if they're not actively looking to scam or cheat anyone...

I WL people I think seem (consistently) cool, based on mainly their activity on the forum. This is not a perfectly fair system, as it mainly boils down to who I can spot, and people who in some way make themselves very visible have an easier time getting into my WL (eyecatching avatars do help, and people who often change their avatar are at a disadvantage). There are people here who I've also seen on other forums, and I take that into account as well.
Not being on my WL does not mean that I dislike you or think that you seem like a bad person, it might simply be that you're not "visible" enough

Dont really care much bout the forum activity ... everyone has a life , and tbh judging by experience having opinion different then some of the forum hermits one leads you to the BL instead :)
Dont really care much bout Won/Given ratio either tbh ... as long as its not Given 1 won 100 ... and that 1 he given away was something free :D
Tho im not whitelisting anyone who just makes Invite only / Group Giveaways ... even with all dem bots and hoarders ... i have that glimmer of hope that there is that one guy who really want that shitty bundle game im giving away , and he couldnt afford it ( somehow :D )
So it literally comes down to just add people who seem reasonable , can hold proper conversation ... arent Emo ... and tend to give away a couple of games a week .
So yeah .. if you see someone who seems like a Normal human being ... WL him . ^^
Sounds like the best solution by far .

All that matters to me is

I prefer active Sg people from forums or from SG chat in my whitelist and those who whitelist me ofcourse :)
People who make awareness for a good cause as well i might add and people who made me laugh for some reason by making a fun comment.
also Crusaders who fight with me against the evil Regifters i tend to add as well
BUMP!

For me... i dont going to make any GA for my WL only, so i dont WL anyone :( (i dont have job atm, so cant buy tons of amazing games for GA), but if i would have to:
Created recent giveaways (in the last month or so)
Recent giveaways are not all for private groups
Also i think its somewhat implicit, being nice on the forum

I'm trying to come up with some guidelines (for myself) for whom to add to my whitelist. One factor that I'm looking into is the users's participation on the forum. If they post really insightful or interesting comments, nothing else really matters. They can be Level 0 and I'll whitelist them. At the same time I'll also add people who are "giveaway saints" (I'm looking at you, PuddlePirate) - those who continue to give and give even if they have little or no wins. They'll be whitelisted too, regardless of participation in the forum.
The more challenging thing is how to balance comments and profiles when both are ok, but not exceptional. Here are some factors I think are worthwhile to consider that contribute to a good profile:
Untainted trade ratio
Any suggestions for how to balance these factors (and forum participation) together?
Here's a giveaway to get you started :-)
Edit: Thanks for all the replies. I made some adjustments to the criteria and came up with this
