Motha fukkas, it's Animal Crossing on your phone.

https://ac-pocketcamp.com/

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is a game in which you build a cozy camp life with friends and your favorite animals. Imagine arriving at a beautiful but empty campsite and meeting up with everyone's favorite helper, Isabelle. Then, out of the blue, she asks you to run the place!
You can make the place your own by crafting furniture, amenities, and other fun items for your animal friends to interact with. Visit nearby recreation areas to go fishing, gather fruit, and collect bugs. Take advantage of all that camp life has to offer!

This was released a month or so ago, some peeps at work just got me playing. I used to love Animal Crossing on Gamecube and this is more of the same. There's some microtransaction stuff, but I haven't even felt the need because they give you so much free shit. Grinding out some crafting right now, just turned level 15. Anyone else playing?

In-game ID is 5995 0517 292 (SidTheApe), friend me upppppppp.

I have never played an Animal Crossing game.

I won't be starting here, I imagine this is a massive space hog like Miitomo was while I was using it.

I suggest setting up a MyNintendo account if you haven't already, they tend to do free stuff for their mobile games there.

Yeah, I downloaded it once it came out and check it every once in a while. I think I'm almost at level 20.
When I check it, I collect a couple of things, fulfill quests if I can and importantly buy clothes and furniture.
It's nice to have villagers and AC decorating on your phone, but the gameplay is too limited for my taste.

Also, if you want to friend people you have to share your ingame friend code not your name (they're not unique).

They’re free to make, I just did it at work the other night. You can also earn these Nintendo coins that you can spend on AC items.

Edit: For REAL, everyone do this. By linking up a dummy facebook and twitter account, you can get so much free shit.

Oh, mine is rooted too, and I use a custom rom, so the game didn't let me play. BUT THERE IS A WORKAROUND FOR IT. Download Magisk manager here, then install the apk and let Magisk install what is needed. Then, add Pocket Camp on the "Magisk Hide" list. What is does is just tell the game "don't worry, there is no root avaiable here" and tcharaaan, game will work like a charm.

fuck websites that auto play at a ridiculous volume, wtf?

I've never played ac, I was thinking about trying this as a kinda demo for the real game to see if I like it.

Comment has been collapsed.

This is actually an adequate demo for AC. It's a miniature-world version of the full game. There are several signature activities from the main series and the overall objectives are similar. It's a grind, but it's a cute, fluffy grind and the journey is the entire point.

As for a demo, they give you so much free stuff that I'd say it's worth checking out. In fact, as with most of these types of games, you'll likely get more out of the experience if you avoid the micro-transactions altogether. I've managed to thus far, but I'll likely get the 3.99 launch pack as a show of support.

I'd say the main difference between Pocket Camp and the other games is it has less charm, he characters are more repetitive/ have samey stereotypical personalities. There also isn't really the unique holiday events/shops etc. that fleshes it out, it's very much a mobile game. Still nice to give an idea of gameplay since it's a lot of "fetch/collect this", is a nice relaxing game.

What would you call a "strong PC"? And are there any emulators that would enable online contents?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Maybe something less than 5 or so years old, and at least for decent emulation, more than 4 GB of RAM. I definitely feel my system slugging bad when I try to emulate Android and do much else.
Not exactly sure what you mean by online contents, but most emulators are meant to work as if you're using a real Android phone. So it will connect the apps you use in it to the internet.

By "online content" I meant more or less multiplayer in that Animal Crossing game.

Do you know of any good emulators?

Yeah makes me wanna play Gamecube version or New Leaf again, I've must've played thousands of hours over the years they're so relaxing. I know they're a lot more fleshed out but this game is still addicting enough to pop in throughout the day. Glad you're enjoying it. :) Added you, I can help you out with the quarry if you'd like.

This mobile game is my first experience with anything Animal Crossing related. From afar, I guess I've always admired the franchise.

I started playing this on its release date. I am currently level 29.

Over the first few days I found out that this game is super stressful in that it will let you play... and play... and play... for hours... taking precious time away from PC gaming...

I was expecting something casual. This isn't quite it, lol. It can absolutely eat up time. And if you are diligent enough, all the timers can drive one nuts -- the crafting, the 3 hour fruit cooldowns, visiting friends at camp at like, every hour (I think I read somewhere that it's actually 40 minutes or so), the loading between each location, the going back and forth for respawns of fishes/insects/other, the RIDICULOUSLY UNWIELDY market box system (i.e. have to check EVERY SINGLE player + loading times zzzz, it would be great if it had a centralized market instead, possibly with search filters) AND quarry inviting (more zzzz, why is there NO invite all button) AND kudos system (more loading >_>... this last one essentially made me reach my tipping point)... nope, this got INCREDIBLY demanding and exhausting.

And so I decided soon after that I should ease up and pull back on playing this game. I consider myself a casual player of it now. I don't think I've missed a login, I just... don't play as much.

If anyone wishes to add me, I'm at 9844 8698 222

The game is indeed very generous, so it has that going for it.

Yeah, this is the trick to Animal Crossing in general. The entire thing is a grind, so it's the most fun when you don't try to play optimally and simply goof around at your own pace.
