I recently did a trade with someone, my CSGO knife(WW Huntsman Case Hardened) for 3 gifts, XCOM 2, The Divison and Rise of the Tomb Raider. He sent me the gifts then I sent him the items. But the next morning I found out the gifts had been revoked. So is Steam Support gonna help me with this?

EDIT: Forgot about the stupid "calling out" rule.

Did you not do it in the same trade window?
I mean did you first get the games then did another trade to give him the knife?
If that would be the case i believe they will not be able to help you. :/
Also should remove the link so you don't get suspended for calling out.

valve made that impossible for new gifts (30 day lock), so they don't have to deal with scams anymore. so if you want a new game from a trader - 100% your risk now. valve won't help anymore...

Aah, true that. Obvious when you're saying it, didn't even realise that all of the games were new/coming big titles either.

Well, if you have proof (screenshots of your chat with him), then you can report him on steamrep and steam support. Also, -rep him on steamgifts.

You should add them to the library, so nobody could revoke them
I couldn;t see any reason to make this deal not as a single trade.

Games can still get revoked even if you activate them.

on what ground?

Note: To request a refund on a Steam Gift, we will need the gift recipient to first initiate the refund and approve the removal of this purchase from their account.

You can do a credit card chargeback. If the bank takes the money back, Valve automatically revokes the licence no matter in what form it is.

False. Steam can as well remove games that are in your library.

Also revoked games from library are worse case than revoked from inventory, if revoked from library your account gets locked, in that case if you are the victim Valve support will unlock it for you, if you ask them.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Gets locked in what aspects ?

What are the signs of 'locked' account ?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Red message on the top warning you that your account is locked, this also has consequences, you can't trade, gift, buy. sell. activate gifts or keys, etc.

Basically your account is like frozen, and only valid to play that you already have and chat.

I got revoked games in the past and I didnt get any lock. Only thee red message saying gift has been revoked.
I tend to believe the lock you talk about might have additional causes, other than gift getting revoked and removed, thus, from your acc.

I was talking about gifts, so only about games bought from Steam Store directly.

I had both CD keys and gift revoked and still have not encounter something like that.

If gift got revoked from your inventory you don't get lock, but if it gets revoked from library you get, if you didn't maybe you just got lucky.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Not really. I already had 2 games revoked from library - one was Humble Bundle mistake, other was GamersGate pricing bug - nothing happened to account.
You will be blocked if you bought games straight from Valve then chargebacked through.

Yes, I meant games bought straight from Steam Store.

My friend got a legit copy of ArmA 3 revoked that he bought on steam with no warning after over a year of having it. Steam support refuses to even answer him

Valve = Thieves

As long as you buy games with Steam DRM (every game on the steam platform) you can lose it all with a push of a button at the whim of Valve.

Nobody will return you anything sadly. Because " He sent me the gifts then I sent him the items" for Valve and by Valve ToS this means you just gave him the items for free, not traded, Trade is only when you use the trade window, like traded the CSGO items for gifts, then in this case Valve could do something, if you just send him the items, there was even a window warning you that you accept that this is gift and you will get nothing in return.

I met him on CSGO lounge, not Steamtrades

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

So? SteamRep and SteamGifts trades are universal trustworthy sources, regardless if you met him on csgo lounge or in local restaurant. Not to mention that in fact you're posting thread here, not on csgo lounge. When you're trading something that expensive with the guy you're seeing for the first time, you should check him everywhere you could. And it's not hard neither complicated to do so, because everyone above did that for you.

It doesn't matter. The point they are trying to make is that you should check on all the sites that can provide information on whether someone is a scammer on not, and Steamgifts is a good one to start on (in case he has one of course).

You're confusing revoke with refund.
Revoke happens when someone tells bank to forcefully take money back from Valve.

Your knife costs about $100 and those three games $60 each. You won't get $180 for $100. Ever. Also, look their Steamrep and Steamgifts trades profile. It's as clear as day.

It's hard Steam Support will give you back your item, but it's worth a report anyway because maybe they will issue a trade ban with a visible tag for this user or so.

Them going first with 3 big new releases should have been the red flag that stopped ya.

Trading outside of Steam window is all your risk now and it should have been like that from the start imo.Next time wait for your items to be tradeable, but never risk them to some random stranger you just met.Try joining a group like TG,aka Traders Guild, hit up chat and you can find people who you can deal with and trust.

Never trade anything outside Steam trader window unless your ready to take the full risk of losing your items or you trust the person enough to take the risk,it to easy to do charges backs and so on.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, as BrutoDetestsSB suggests, try Steam Support regardless. If they have an ounce of pity they might reverse the "gift" of that knife to that guy.
Maybe include links to his steamrep and steamtrades. With some luck, he may get a Steam trade ban if he doesn't already.

It's a pretty massive mistake, sorry that you have had to learn the hard way. To be honest I'm surprised you were tricked given your steamtrades history.
