The problem is simple. Better give an example.

If I own Borderlands, and buy and activate Borderlands GOTY, will it activate all dlc and give simple Borderlands copy back(since I owned it) or it will disappear?

No, they are two separate games. I don't even think you'll be able to activate the GOTY edition if you have the original already activated :S

In any case, they won't give you any extra copies.

No. If u activate normal ver. u cant activate GOTY. Must buy DLCs separately.
