Do people actually collect those? Or should I not bother and turn into gems?

Collect the whole set and craft the badge. Or trade to someone who is doing that.

Generally unmarketable also means untradeable. Good luck 😉

Generally yes, but actually no with trading cards that are part of Steam ecosystem and not a particular game. Trading cards get unmarketable when the game developer/publisher is caught with any sort of fraud and his games are removed from the platform - cutting his Steam market profits is part of that process, and trading cards being sold on the market that would otherwise contribute to his profits in form of a cut are becoming unmarketable as a side-effect of the process (along with emoticons and backgrounds).

There are no untradable trading cards to the best of my knowledge, the only way to get untradable cards is having restrictions on your own Steam account, such as being limited or community banned. And that restriction can be lifted (e.g. in case of cards earned while being limited, spend $5 and they get tradable).

Yeah there are untradeable cards, it’s the reason I mentioned it. I had to convert a couple to gems cos I had no other way to get rid of them.

Then you wouldn't be able to trade those gems or anything you craft with them ever either since all such bans are inherited. But even if by some chance you get untradeable cards no card collectors have ever seen, they aren't in any relation to unmarketable cards which everyone has tons of.

Depending on what game they are from some collectors may want them.
The one you have from Torch Cave i would think isn't worth much tho.

Check the discussion board, see if someone will trade for it. Some boards will have people working on card sets for them, such as with a Barbie and Her Sisters Puppy Rescue foil card I have (though they already had the card I own).

I collect normaly all foil sets that i don't have. Unmarketable Foils too. And i would say people like me pay more (in gems, other cards, backgrounds or whatever) as you get from the gems.

I'm making use of my large friend list and noticing who has other parts. If by any chance I'm missing smaller part of the set, I suggest trades for a ~double of gems value, which people tend to accept most of the time. I craft that badge during sale and get a tradable and marketable sale card, which can actually be sold.

Usually same people reach me with similar trades when I'm the one on the other side, having a smaller part of the badge.

All unmarketable backgrounds I gemify with no second thought, emoticons I tend to keep, even though I should gemify them along with the backgrounds.

i just looked and i think my foil lola was sold before steam fucked a perfectly good game. ether that or steam stole it when they removed a perfectly viable game.

I also have some of these nonmarketable cards, what's the best place or group to trade them?

There are some traders who specifically collect foil sets
