The witcher 3 is amazing in my opinion. Although I personally don't really care for the battles (I also don't really use strategy, I just make sure my character is OP as hell :p), the story is really good and the quests are very interesting. And then there's the world... it's just amazing. Also: GWENT!!

I consider w2 a mediocre rpg. W3 combat is responsive and accurate, controls are perfect, story and side quests are top quality. Graphics, world and performance is great too. I cant see the reason to not buy it.

I agree. I struggled a lot to beat Witcher 2, and played it on and off for a bit every few months, then got into it and completed it. Didn't really enjoy the experience that much. Loved Witcher 3 tho, recommend it to everyone. Don't get me wrong, W2 is great too, but by the time I played it it felt a bit outdated.

I was bored beyond my mind while playing Dragon's Dogma. Witcher 3 in the other hand is probably the best game on market right now. But since you said you hated battle system in Witcher 2 then you might be after different game altogether. What did you hate about it?

I have the Witcher on PS4 but haven't tried it yet. I played Dragons Dogma when it came out on PS3 and couldn't stop playing it. I'm sure its even better now that they have this Dark Arisen version

I've only played a couple hours of Dogma but I've played 15 of Witcher in the past 2 days and I'm loving it! I'm literally playing it now and I'm in overlay of Witcher 3!

Honestly, this isn't even a question you should be asking. Go buy Witcher 3 pls :3

While both are great choices and you can't really go wrong with either of them, I personally found Witcher 3 to be the more enjoyable one.

Get w3 first with dlc. After 150-200h of gameplay get dogma when its cheaper lol and play on death march. The game is not too hard, its fun on death march.

You should definitely consider getting both at some point. If you do everything, both should land you 100+ hours easily.

Witcher 3 is as amazing as it is long. There's none of the typical throwaway fetch quests, every quest feels as well written as the next. Plus the last DLC is about to drop in a few days, by the time you get there it will definitely be out.

[Disclaimer: I've played neither game, and am just going off of feedback, reviews, gameplay videos, etc]

In short, Dragon's Dogma uses story as filler for strong gameplay while Witcher 3 uses gameplay as filler for strong environment/lore/story/setting.

Witcher 3 is the more polished game, but in the end it's a question of what your preference is- if you're more about the gameplay, Dogma will potentially appeal to you more, as that's its focus.
If you're about the immersion, the narrative, then Witcher 3 is your bread and butter.

Or rather- you played Witcher 2, you know what to expect, as far as Witcher's approach to content goes: The combat system/gameplay improves each game, but it's never been a meaningful component of the Witcher games.
Witcher 3 is supposed to be the first with an actually enjoyable/complex combat system, but it's still not what the game is focused on, and gets criticism where Dogma's gets praise.

Flip side, Dogma's story, while there are parts people enjoy, is very traditional and straightforward and uninspiring. It's supposedly not in any way 'bad', but it's not supposed to be especially compelling, either. Similarly, Questing isn't the main focus of the game, persay, with you apparently having to wander around and enjoy exploring and discovering and interacting, and coming back to Quests once you feel you can handle them. The game is more about exploration and providing a rich gameplay experience, than getting you caught up in a quest-driven narrative.

So yeah, it's apparently a straightforward decision between gameplay or story-richness, with an extra nudge toward Witcher for its extra level of polish.

i seen streams of witcher 3 and ppl had fun playing it and seemed like a fun game....as for dragon's dogma i own it i did all the wrong choices xD (starting on hard mode and a class with no defensive skills what so ever trying to kill a big ass drake with near begginer equipements and so on) i die a lot as a result of that xD but i can only say i'm having a blast xD
