Its a wall of text, thanks if you take the time to read.

Ok. Long story short. Some friends and me are promoting esports (starcraft / dota2 / lol). We have been doing that for the last 3 years or so. We attended on conventions in our city, we used our own computers to set the whole thing, yada yada. We were catching some attention since we were the only ones in the state to create on site tournaments for pc games where everyone else were doing it (and still doing it) for consoles

Then, we managed to win a contest on a university in mexico about a successful business using the esports as the central point and we got funded to open the business by the government (pretty cool huh?) 3 months ago. With the funds, we got 12 high spec computers, all the furniture, tables etc, we got our own shop and we do side business also (computer repair/sales/upgrades). 10 for games, and the other 2 for editing/streaming etc

At the moment, we are only hosting tournaments for the mentioned games, but my personal project is to also offer tournaments for fighting games on conventions with my own computer as we dont have any extra. i already have an x arcade, a big ass one for 2 players, just like the ones you find on arcade machines.

So my idea is to have the cabinet to place the x arcade on top, then on the inside should be a place to add the speakers and to hold the case, keyboard/mouse. And the monitor will be separated and mounted in a wall. It should be easy to get inside to add/remove the pc easily (since its mine, ill be only for conventions or whenever we get together for some sparring).

I already have a bunch of fighting games.
KOF.
USF4 (just upgraded it from arcade)
MK9 soon to be MKX
Naruto ninja storm 3
Soon to get DB Xenoverse.
Injustice.
Skullgirls and some other among the lines.
Without counting co-op, like Double dragon neon for the fun and all the fighting games for emulators and stuff.

If you have seen any design of something similar, please post the links to see how should i build it.

Small GA Storm: Frontline nation, its a steam gift, will be sent by mail to the winner. Thanks.

One of my favorite article about MAME's here for inspirational ideas on looks.

Older article here on the steps to do it but Todd Moore has a nice way of laying things out.

I am assuming you've been to MAMEWorld

I have probably been in that page in the past, but mostly for the mame roms (have not checked any roms in years since i got a torren with over 10 gb of 20-200 kb games, thats plenty lol).

Yeah, i think that basically what i want is something similar to the nintendo themed one, just without the screen, as i may actually use a 32" tv instead a monitor. and i think ill set it up in a wall to prevent any accident. Im not sure yet. But thanks, ill check trough this.

The only problem you may run into right now, is that Barcades are taking a huge step lately, which has driven the prices up on cases and old arcade units if you are looking to find something to house it in.

The good news is you can easily find plans or draw your own if you are good with wood and power tools to make your own.

Or if you know any rich friends, just 3d print one :P lol

I dont live in the US, there are no thing like barcades around, so i will build my own, im decent with tools and wood. I already have some big chunks of cardboard to start the design process and make the actual drawings there first, but the main problem is that i will have to be adding/removing the pc frequently since there are no spare one to have there, and i have to design accordingly. I already have the x arcade and the wood is not that expensive. If i have the design already i can actually ask for the cuts there, they charge like .50 usd for cut, so shouldnt be too expensive neither.

Just make sure that you leave the back easily accessed, I would recommend sliding trays and a locking mechanism. That way you can pull the trays out to set everything up, you can use guide tubes to run all your wires so they are protected and you can just plug and unplug them as needed.

I was thinking something among the lines, ill have to add an extra one for the keyboard and mouse below the x arcade too. The wires and the speakers, they can be fixed, i have spare ones, just the case itself is the one that should be removed. I was thinking also to add usb extensions attached to the cabinet, just in case some random player prefers to bring his own joystick.

The artwork in the cabinet shouldnt be too hard neither (at least not for me) there are 2 graphic design guys in the team (we are like 10) and another one that works with metal. He makes the trophies lol.

Yeah the hardest part of the artwork will be finding the print shop and then applying it to the finished cabinet.

Good Luck on your build and I hope you share pictures!

I remember this site and it's forums being helpful when I was doing this type of stuff.

You can probably find cabinet plans that people have made to incorporate your X-Arcade stick.

Some idea with blue print, maybe this will inspire you:
http://image.frompo.com/7565bc81f105df16e03f7a6e516140e6

Or maybe something like this, only with option to attach to table. PC would be stored under the table, and under the place for X arcade you would do a little drawer for keyboard an mouse:

Or somethin like this:

Hope it will help somehow. Sorry if I reposted something, but I don't feel like reading all posts ;P

Oh. The one in the last link, last picture with monitor in the wall, thats exactly the idea.

But i didnt noticed the shape of the cabinet to hold the controller, the second link, the one without the controller made it clear. yeah, im going with something like that. Thank you.

The only problem i guess ill be to prevent it moving to the sides. If i just add wood there, they will block the side buttons, but ill figure something out..

Ok, I think I will have a little problem with that, according to my english skills but check it out.

How about doing holes in the sides fo thingie from second link. Then you would attach two metal bars on each side, with screws. With that you will hold it on sides and i would block the buttons (I think). Hope that will help, hope you understand and last but not least I'm glad that I could help.

Not toooooo familiar with arcade controllers, but it sounds like you'll have the monitor/TV mounted separately, which basically means you're not building a full cabinet, which should probably make things easier.

In that case just build a waist high box/table/steal a lecturing podium and saw in a space for the xarcade and put the computer inside, wire everything up, and then have the cables hang out for the TV.

Sounds fun.
