Steam Error HELP

I am participating in steam beta, i downloaded the update, it works, but then steam crashes every so often, so i decided to turn off steam beta. When it was downloading, it got stuck and said steam needs to be online to update, please confirm your network and retry again. I deleted the steam folder except steam apps, reinstalled steam, nothing works, help,
