I tend to be pretty picky when it comes to humour and things I find amusing (for example, while I find most action movies entertaining, most comedies fall flat for me), but I'll give them a try.
It's funny how as I've grown older and bitter(er?), some things that I used to think were funny now aren't, but other things (like Blackadder) have stood the test of time and are just as hilarious as I remember, if not even more so.
Happy cake day!

Blackadder really is eternal. Granted, the early seasons have not aged well, but Season 3 and 4 are still every bit as funny as the first time I watched them.
They do say, Mrs M, that verbal insults hurt more than physical pain.
They are, of course, wrong, as you will soon discover when I stick this toasting fork into your head.

That's funny.. I find myself going to the kitchen for something / or actually skipping past over-the-top action scenes nowadays.
Explosions and cracking bones just doesn't interest me anymore. Has to be some real good actors to keep me interested.
Blackadder though... yes =)

Crap, now that you mention it, I am less entertained by over-the-top action scenes now than I used to be. John Wick Chapter 3 was distinctly less entertaining for me than Chapter 2, which was itself less entertaining than Chapter 1, and I think it's largely because the latter movies focus more on over the top action rather than on witty dialog. Yes, it's very flashy, stylish action, but I'd rather have the great scenes with witty dialog. I guess I really am getting old.
I think it's more that I can still watch an action movie and be sufficiently entertained to not want to turn it off, even if the action movie isn't particularly good. Batman v Superman, Alien: Covenant, Jupiter Ascending, Peppermint, Warcraft, etc. were not good movies, but I was fine with letting them play out, and at no point did I consider turning them off. But there are so many recent comedy movies where 10-15 minutes in I'm bored and want to not be watching it anymore. I've never walked out on an action / sci-fi / thriller / drama, but I have walked out on comedies before - granted, it was walking out of my living room, but regardless I would rather spend my time doing anything else than being bored while not laughing at unfunny jokes.
Glad we share a love of Blackadder, though. My brother introduced me to it years ago, and it's still so good! "You know, Blackadder, for me, socks are like sex. Tons of it about, and I never seem to get any!"

I still have not seen any of the Action-super-hero movies really.. Maybe some day I'll catch up.
With the exception of Deadpool, and The Dark Knight. I enjoy those characters/actors. Looking forward to seeing the new Joker with Joaquin Phoenix, cause that is one interesting fella ๐

Also... I never wear socks ๐คฃ

The first John Wick is really good fun - lots of great scenes with witty dialog to frame and humanize the characters, while the action is refreshingly gritty and realistic. It's a movie I'll happily watch again, and quote to those who've seen it.
The Dark Knight is amazing, I just re-watched it recently with someone who was seeing it for the first time, and it's still so good.
I think the Marvel movies are hit or miss. I loved the first Iron Man, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Avengers movies, as well as Dr. Strange and Black Panther - largely because of the humour in each. The sequels were either fine but not as good (Iron Man, Guardians) or disappointing (Avengers, Spiderman). Thor actually improved with the sequels. I'll keep watching them as they keep making them, but the luster is wearing off and I'm less and less excited for each new movie.
Also... I never wear socks ๐คฃ
OMG, me too! At least at home. I'll put on socks with shoes - I'm not a crazy person.

Humor is very largely a matter of perspective so there's no judging it. Either it works for you or it doesn't and I like to try things before I decide they work for me or not so thanks!
You're not old and bitter. You're vintage and sharper ;)
Happy Cake!

I just wanna share an old animated series that I always come back to, being the RPG nut that I am. Doraleous and Associates
Poorly animated and/but funny as hell. Give it 2 eps, and if you like it then, great! - There are 50 episodes to binge. ๐๐
This series is made by the same guys who made Battlefield Friends. If you are into quirky humor regarding the FPS genre, maybe this suits you better.
These guys also run their variety gaming channel, called: Neebs Gaming Crude humor and banter, but with comedic intent. A great bunch of guys. No high-pitch screaming just to attract pre-teens.
I'm getting old and bitter.
/Hope you enjoy ๐
