I wouldn't take his words for granted, they might not sell day one or day two or in 5 weeks, but eventually if it gets in the que it will sell. I've sat on items for years and eventually they sold, I wasn't gonna do anything with them. However, I would agree they are pretty worthless as getting 1 penny for each item would require you to sell 100 for 1 dollar. You could probably optimize your strategy by hunting for new releases and farming them as they come out and listing your items immediately so eventually when a bot buys 1000 or whatever, yours is sold, but in my opinion you can just work an hour at a job and do much more than you'd ever get from this.
However, some games are probably alright as clicker games. I mean people playing cookie clicker and other clicker games. This is the same concept. Some of them have leaderboards, some of them let you use the items your drop in the game, etc. They're as basic as possible as games can be and I'd say not exactly worth it.
If you just want the items you can trade for them from the forums from other users, just trade something for them that you think is of equal value and keep in mind they aren't exactly worth market value when you trade for them.

Because it wouldn't be fair to at least show some proof that they do sell, this is with around 20 refreshes of the recently sold (you just click on newly listed and recently sold and it refreshes and shows you what just sold)
I did see some other banana's being sold while refreshing but wanted to find some other game too.

With a game like banana right now, a lot of .... not so very smart people buy them for the same reason they buy nft's, crypto, precious metals like gold, or invest in the stock market. FOMO basically. For a dollar you can buy like 33 bananas at 3 cents, and if you really believe they will go to a higher price(note: I don't believe they will ever go above 3 cents myself), then it's not that big of a loss if you can afford a dollar. Some things like gold do have some meaning behind their value, but for instance, diamonds never will, especially nowadays since they can be lab grown. At the same time, there was a time when aluminum was worth more than gold. People just want to hype something. Like a ferrari you can't drive over the speed limit. Is it useless, yes. Is it actually useless? Yes. Do you ever wonder why they don't make a toyota corolla that looks like a bugatti? You're still going to drive it at the same speeds whether you like it or not.
I think part of the problem with this is some people have too much money. This will differ based on location but as an example while some struggle to make minimum wage and just scrape by on lets say at $20k a year, there's someone out there who makes $75k, then there's someone who makes $150k, then there's some bastard who makes $300k maybe even more. What would you spend $300k on? It gets to a point where you can afford to waste $1000 or $10000 or $100000 on nothing and this is why these games, nft's, crypto, youtubers who sell you courses or who knows what garbage, trash from temu or sheen or whatever, exist. These people have to waste their money on something, instead it could go to a good cause, in 99% of the cases the mentality of these people is "I worked hard for it someone else should work hard", but the reality is everyone had a job that paid $300k a year we'd all be homeless and that money would mean nothing. Many have to suffer so some feel good, democracy and communism both work on this concept.
There's also a lot of fraud that happens with this. Someone steals a credit card, they make some fake transactions steal some money by paying for some digital stuff that they can resell or something, and then to maybe try to obfuscate those purchases they make thousands of buys like this until the card is closed down. Still if your item is in the que when the buy happens, you get paid for it, and I'm pretty sure steam just refunds the card to the bank, so steam takes the loss. This is why they added time restrictions when adding a new card, and a minimum spend and wait time before the market becomes available. Not sure how so many credit cards still get stolen but it happens.
As for other items, looking at Aesthetic Clicker I see they have gifs of copyrighted material, and other things some might find funny, cool, etc. to own. Some you can display in your profile, and some get removed from steam, some get forgotten etc. So you could own some cool gifs or cool looking at items, which is what I do, you can check my inventory if you want. I didn't buy mine from the market nor did I farm them, but I traded for them at much less than market price. One issue with so many items being traded I couldn't even see my history for like 3 months, it was just crashing, and steam support could not figure it out, they had no idea what was going on. My guess is just attempting to load the page with 8000 items traded at a time just crashed it because it failed to load in time. I could still trade and after I've done a bunch of small 1 item trades, it fixed itself, but it took like another 30 - 40 trades and 3 months. Bet you steam support still doesn't know what causes the problem.

I mean a good way is to go to the market and click on "Show more" under the "Browse by games".
https://steamcommunity.com/market/
I found a forum here that links a few, note that some might not be accurate anymore, some might require hours of afking, etc.

Hi all. Do you have a good list of idle/clicker games giving sellable inventory drops (non trade cards)? Asking for a friend :) Thx
