My friend from Bulgaria is saying the same thing. He wants to get a 1060 but literally all sites have it sold out. I would recommend wait only if you can for 1-2 months if it goes back in. Else you can get a 980, its still very good. Unless you really want the 1xxx series ASAP then try to save up.
Edit: Make sure your case has space for the newer cards. 560Ti is from older and only half the size in length, most cases back then had the metal bits stuck like half way through for the Disk ports so you might need a new case as well.

279mm are the max size for the Gaming ones for 1060. As long as you make sure you have enough space you should be fine :)

ehhh you should wait, that's the worst moment ever to buy a 480\580.
amd cards will be "nerfed" soon (maybe in a couple of months) and maybe prices will be reasonable again.

Well as a 1070 user, I can safely say that it's worth it. If you can save up for it, definitely do it.

bump try the rx series, good performance, low price, quite always available

I'd say save and future proof if possible but that's always easier said than done.

Lol, when i read the title i thought you talk about steam cards or something :v

This is a bad time to buy any of the AMD Rx series. First and foremost, because of the mining and plus AMD's Vega series cards are to be announced. If you of course do not intend waiting, then 1060,1070 etc. are your only options.
What resolution are you going to play on and what refresh rate. I can't possibly recommend you a 1070 if you are rocking a 720p 60Hz monitor :D

1060 should be fine for pushing 60FPS on that resolution. However, I can't of course guarantee you for how long you'll be able to do so (no one can accurately predict that).
I'd personally go for the 1060, as the difference in price between the 1060 and 1070 is quite a bit (at least here the difference is around 180€).
EDIT: I'm obviously talking about the 6GB one, as the 3GB is a money grab by all means.

a used gtx 770 for ~60€ is still very reasonable in terms of price and performance. especially if you just want to pass the time in style until you save up some more money for the real deal.

So I have this problem. My graphics card died last week (Geforce 560Ti 448) and all the cards I like (GTX 1060, AMD 580) are in short supply due to the mining craze. The card I had ran fine until now, but I would like to modernise a bit now that it's become neccessary.
Currently I use my laptop, but it has limited USB ports and a Quadro card because I use it mostly for CAD, so it's not ideal. I'm by no means a gaming addict, I can last a long time without my usual sim and strategy titles.
So what do I do? Do I save up for a 1070/1080, do I wait, or should I buy something lower spec?
A gib for your thoughts
