Dissection is probably my favorite band. Problem with metal is that there is a lot of intersection between genres and bands and it can be hard to choose just one as a favorite...

EDIT: Also, I gotta say I can't stand Sabaton. For some reason they were on a tour with Amon Amarth and Skeletonwitch of all bands and it threw the whole feel of the show off :/

Alternative metal, though death metal has some really good screaming sometimes (Mary Poppins)
the bands I listen to most often fall under metalcore, melodic death metal, power metal, hard rock, and while it isn't listed on one of the wikipedia pages, pirate metal(a type of heavy metal I guess).
