This is BS btw... Origin is not trying to be steam. Steam is the one fucking everybody over with overpriced titles (which they provide no slow support for), and they have such an unfair conversion rate (1 Euro = 1 USD). Horrible servers that can't back up sales etc... I would like to see some competition

I agree, that Origin doesn't try to be Steam and the client itself is actually quite nice, but you can't be serious with the price argument... EA has the same $1=1β¬ (if you're lucky), but additionally about 99% of the special deals/discounts are exclusively for the US. And Steam has some features Origin is missing, like Steamplay, Steamworks and you can add all your old Valve games to Steam.

Origin IS trying to be Steam, though not as expansive as Steam is at the moment. You have to understand that both Origin and Steam are digital distributors of video games. Steam just happens to be used by many companies, while Origin only offers in-house games. That is the only real difference from what I can tell, and that different has very little impact in the long run.
As things are going, if you want to play EA games in the future you're going to have to use Origin rather than Steam. Steam is convenient, which is why so many people use it. Having to have multiple programs kinda goes against the convenience aspect of it.

So, your statement suggests, that all digital distributors, like Amazon or even the Mac App Store, try to be Steam... The big difference between those isn't the variety of games, but how the client behaves. You don't need Origin or the Amazon client to run your games, you only use them to download and install them, after that there is basically no difference to retail games (only that you don't need a DVD). There are only 2 exceptions from that, which are C&C4 and Darkspore, but in those cases Origin behaves more like Ubi-DRM and is far from being comparable to Steam.

I really really wanted to give Origin a chance because Steam needs robust competition. But the fact that they publish every game they sell and they still can't make these things worldwide, welp, sorry Origin but I guess I'll have to stick with Steam since North America is obviously the only market that's important to you.

The games are not good enough for me to want to put up with having using another Digital Source. All my other games are on Steam now. Steam got here first and it's going to be pretty difficult to make me switch over to another program (one that only has EA games has no chance, sorry EA, your games are not worth the trouble).
