Awesome. This is probably my #1 for games to buy when I get cash. It looks so great.

Very similar to Oblivion and Skyrim and Morrowind. Essentially the same game as Oblivion, as far as the engine goes, but with enhancements, focus on gunplay, and a fun pause-for-orders mechanic. As far as everything else goes though, it's very different. FULL of atmosphere, story, and love - by comparison.

You on drugs or something? Third person view in TES and new Fallouts is always atrocious and unplayable. You can't aim right, you don't see what's in front of you, your movement model changes for some inexplicable reason and your view is obstructed by the ceiling indoors. 3rd person view in these games is garbage.

Argh, should've added that I played the shit out of Borderlands and already preordered 2.

Is it scary? I hate scary games and can't bother to look it up.

Not scary at all, I can guarantee it :D If you liked Oblivion, you will like this(well, it is not open-word, but gameplay is very similar. And better. It has one of the best combat systems :) )

Awesome. Thanks a ton. Will look into it, as I really enjoy/enjoyed Oblivion.

I know, its a 2006 game and has better gameplay than many of 2012 titles :D
Also, you cannot see in the trailer, but you can use the froze spell on the ground... and the enemies will slip and fall on the ground when they run over it! :D. This game has so many different ways to approach it :D

Wishlisted and I'm going to go find a way to buy it quickly, waiting to buy it will make me explode.

It's not EXACTLY an RPG, more like Legend of Zelda with a couple more choices, like 3 more choices...it is linear, built around the HL2 idea, physics puzzles, hectic combat, limited gear choices and I think there are even 2 paths at the very end. RPG? No, Action-Adventure game? Yes.

Another vote for Deus Ex. The original and the new one.

Will look into Dragon Age, Gothic, and System Shock.

They're all third person except for System Shock....

I meant Dragon Age and Gothic. I know how the Elder Scrolls work.
Comment has been collapsed.
That's a problem, since outside of the TES and Fallout series, the rest mostly just suck dick. Deus Ex (the original) is kind of glitchy on modern systems, the newest one is more of a stupid persons version of a great series/concept. So, you are limited to a. shitty games, or b. third person and hybrid first and thirds.

Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines can be played partly in first person and its great(Third person in melee, first with guns I think if I remember.)

Yes.This.So much this.
Just remember to download the unnoficial patch. But great, great game :D

This is key, read this and follow it before starting your first game. You'll probably play thru three or four times.

Looks good. Getting some great reccomendations, keep em coming!

Forgot to mention that I played the shit out of Borderlands. Otherwise, good suggestions.

Try the STALKER series. Almost immersive enough to give you cancer.

Oh, also a older game by the same guys of Dark Messiah:
Arx Fatalis :). Great game, if you dont care about dated graphics I recommend it :D

Nice to see that mentioned. :D I had a lot of fun with that on my old laptop. Gotta get around to finishing that someday. Definitely recommend it. Goes very cheap during major sales too.

Although they decide to make it real-time not turn based, making the game rely much on fast clicking skills, its still a great game.

-Elder Scrolls Series
-Fallout 3 & New Vegas
-Mount & Blade
-Legend of Grimrock
-Dark Messiah of Might & Magic (altough I hate this game, but...)
-S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series
-Deus Ex
-Dishonored (when it launches)
These are the ones I remember for now

I would totally agree with this if I hadn't already played Oblivion and Skyrim, but the Fallouts look great.

Blacklight, smnc and CS:S aren't even close to RPGs

Are you joking? I hope you're joking. #1- first person #2- I already own the entire series and have played through most of them.

I presume you just won't buy all of the games suggested here so I'm going to say you should get Fallout 3 over New Vegas. NV may have more content to play, but that doesn't mean you won't be spending a lot of time with Fallout 3. F3 just has a better atmosphere, it really feels post-apocalyptic. Also i find the DLC's in Fallout 3 better.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution is really a good surprise. I was expecting some basic gunfights, but no, lots of RPG elements and customization. You can also clear a lot of maps through different means too (same objective, but different paths and methods).
I can't recommend the Fallout 3 / Fallout: New Vegas enough. Tons of hours' worth of exploration, tons of quests, tons of everything. Skyrim and the such can hide themselves: there's no comparison at all, very different world of quality in the games.
I'll suggest something a little more far-fetched. Amnesia: The Dark Descent might be interesting. It's not so much of an RPG, but it looks like one. It's first person, and really, it's spooky. It's a unique experience, try it.

Already suggested, the horror aspect is driving me far away.
Comment has been collapsed.
The horror aspect isn't that much of the game. Only a few parts.
Comment has been collapsed.
Not horror at all. Some mutants, and stuff. And the Controller is cool. Shooting people is very satisfying in STALKER because the enemies won't go down except if you aim for the head. Shadow of Chernobyl is the best. The only horror in this game is when you got shot and you have know idea where the bullet come from.

Want to know some good first person RPGs. Been kinda bored lately and I want to know some good games for when I get some cash. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't say Skyrim or Oblivion. I played the shit out of Oblivion and I lost interest in Skyrim. Also Dead Island because I'm borrowing it from a friend right now. I'd like it if they were either fantasy or sci-fi, nothing too realistic.
