You can put this little shiny box behind your tv...try this with your desktop pc :) ...this box is not for "us" which have powerful pcs...it is for persons who want a little gaming pc in the near of the tv and dont want to put a hdmi cable across the room(or trough rooms) or they dont even have a gaming compatible pc/laptop...and, this little thing eats much less power than your pc :P...

Rings and lights of death = x360. Tell my 2 launch PS3's about the lights, they might learn a thing.. or an even better example, my Wii or my Wii U, Nintendo consoles don't break (and nope i'm not a console fanboy, PC forever but some consolexlusives are just great, so I have to own pretty much every system :()
Most 'hardcore gamers' will stay on their PC, they even aren't trying to tempt us with it. Imo they are just trying to convince console users who say retarded things like: "hardware is too expensive, every year a 500$ GPU!' or 'I want to play from my sofa with a controller'.
They might have said that they aren't competing with Sony or MS but come on... A 'console' with awesome games (not saying console has shit games but personally the BEST games ever can be found on PC) and most importantly, those insane deals... try to find some older games for your console, it's atleast $30 new while we get spammed with -75% sales. Once the majority realises this it could become BIG. :p

If you'd read what GabeN says about SteamBox you'd know it's not for PC gamers. It's not even competing with MS/Sony/Nintendo. What GabeN want to do is to make sure Steam have it place in living room before Apple releases their "console" - that's his main enemy.

PC gaming is still underrated by the masses, the idea of the SteamBox is to open PC gaming to more people from the comfort of your own living room. I think it'll change PC gaming for the better without affecting the lives of current PC gamers. There comes a time when every company takes a step to appeal to the masses.

I dont' know, to be honest i find this....quite wierd, you already have a pc, that mean you value the power of your pc, you already get use to it inconvenient like controller.....etc, why need a console....which work like a pc to play pc game ?

It's to make things easy for people who aren't tech savvy. You simply by the box, hook it up and there you have a gaming box capable of playing PC games. On the other hand, if you have to go out and buy a pre built system or build your own, you need lots of knowledge on what you are going to get. Also the Steam box will boot straight into Steam and there is no need to use it as a PC, just a gaming machine. It's simple, and that's why it is being made.

So apparently there's a Steam console coming out - sounds cool I guess but is there really any point, when you can connect your PC to your TV and accomplish the same thing..? And I'm always wary of consoles and reliability - with all the rings and lights of death, it's just another reason I still like my computer.
Could be pretty dang sweet tho' -
