hi humans of the forum! it looks like some people can't connect to steam from the client since the last update (maybe)
anyway, if you are getting "Connection Error - Could not connect to Steam network" this may fix your problem:

Windows:
<Win>+r (this launch the "execute" prompt
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steam.exe" -tcp
<Enter>

or just create a shortcut on the desktop and add -tcp at the end

MAC OS:
open /Applications/Steam.app --args -tcp

LINUX
Open a terminal window and write this :

this launches the client in TCP mode, for some reason, that works.

steam -tcp

On 64bit windows with default steam install location you'll need to do this:

<Win>+r
"C:Program Files (x86)SteamSteam.exe" -tcp

<Enter>

Adjust for other systems accordingly. Had the same problem just now, switching to tcp protocol helped.
