Dungeon crawlers are somewhat between RPG and hack & slash, closer to the latter. So do a toss-up. :D

Yeah, I know. I just went with RPGs since overall they cover more ground (RPG, Action RPG, Turn-based RPG etc.)

Well, most younger player associate RPG with ARPG exclusively anyway (considering that in the past ten years maybe a dozen actual, real cRPGs were made in the non-indie scene, it's not surprising), and hack & slash is more or less a sub-sub-genre of the sub-genre of ARPG now… so good choice. ^^

Based on the time I spent on fps games since the early 90s I have to choose that one. Rpg's are a close 2nd though

Tough question. Also some relevant genres are missing, such as Adventure. For me FPS is the winner because of the simple fun it provides. I revere modern RPG because of the complexity and customization. And simply because most good RPG is fantasy which I love. Yet some of the best games ever are Adventure and RTS.

I like some hybrids, like The Witcher, Deus Ex, Metal Gear Solid, etc. But I think that the game I enjoyed most is Warcraft 3.
