I agree... Thought that a lot of indie games would be 75% off at this sale since they are not really selling well but no... most are like 40-50% maximum -_- . Otherwise, since we cannot trade anymore with other regions, I'll just buy way less games from Steam.

its not the sale i dislike, its the lack of event :/ we've finally gone over the hill, and now we're on teh side where valve just doesnt think we're worth it any more, so they just throw up some cards, a SMALL sale (only 1 vote, small selection of daily sales, shit flash sales) and says fuck it who cares.
pretty sad... i miss the valve that used to think we were worth having fun with.

There's also the fact that there's a few more smaller sales like teh fall one.

Too soon to tell but well... it's a bit much to expect new stuff to end up so cheap compared to older games.

What really makes the sale worst is lack of cheap trades

i hear that Amazon digital sale is better than the Steam sale. im gonna pull it up to check it out now since my friend was raving about it & was also disappointed with the Steam sale. but ya, i agree, Steam Winter sale is poop this year. its like more coal in the stocking from them. region lock & shitty sale.

Most of it is just price matches. You can keep an eye on my Amazon thread though, I update it as it gets noticible deals.

Some real bullshit, especially following the trading lock.
I've been after Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth for a while, and was pleased to see it appearing on the sale page at 40% off. Then I saw the Aus/NZ price...
Even at 40% off, it's still more expensive than the US and UK STANDARD PRICES!
This is when I would normally hit up a Russian trader to avoid getting shafted by this sort of BS pricing policy.
Fuck off Gaben. Just fuck off.

I dont know. It may be locked, since those regions might be considered "lower price" than AUS/NZ? I'll admit to not being up to speed on the details of the lock.

Someone linked some info in another thread that showed the US and UK (and presumably Australia and NZ) were in the highest pricing tier and had no restrictions on gifting. But I don't know if it was just for that particular game or not.
Hopefully somebody knowledgeable will spot this and confirm/deny.

I think the US is more moderate compare to AUS/NZ and EU w/ VAT
Comment has been collapsed.
True, although taxes are something of a red herring IMHO since many, many games are priced practically identically across all comparable "first world" regions.
There are, however, a notable rump of ballbag devs who make arbitrary overcharges with little or no justification.
AUS/NZ are amongst the most badly shafted in these cases, although the EU zones are also soft targets. Without the option of trusted Russian traders, I'm inclined simply not to spend the money. Trading is a hassle, and with a markup from US/UK traders, I'm still paying more than the "fair" price of the game.
After all, everything becomes insanely cheap over time, and I don't "need" a computer game.
RIP impulse buying?

If you really want it, find a Canadian. We can get it for $30 CAD, which is about $26 USD :)

If you want a Canadian to get it for you, I'll get it and for free too. I'm not sure about the region locks though, that could be a risk on your end. $30 CDN for the next 4 hours.

Thanks very much for your kind offer!
Alas, it's back to a paltry 15% off now, but I appreciate your generosity :)

Thanks for the reply. Would be nice to know for sure one way or the other :)

Better yet, a Canadian. We have it for $30 CAD, which is 10-15% cheaper than $30 USD.

Finally had a good opportunity to get my hands on Metal Gear Rising - Revengeance, so I don't care.

nice to see someone can still appreciate a normal sale.

agree, I can buy any game, any time of the year, cheaper than steam deals. There's steamtrades, tens of third party key stores on the web... I'm not going to buy it but: Borderlands pre-sequel 25 euro on sale on steam, 19 euro in the first store I alwas check for good prices

"There's steamtrades".
Did you look up Valve's recent announcements about trading? I sadly think Steamtrades is a full-fledged option now. :/

agreed, and the region lock plus the absurd trade restriction make me thinking about not buying games on steam anymore..i'm with valve from the beginning and this politics hurts me...i don't buy shit this year..and i'm thinking of not buying anymore.

I think it's pretty obvious that this thread wasn't meant to be taken seriously.
