If you actually want a lot of people to play the game then you need to add koalas and a lot of them.

First of all, all shooters should be as real as possible, if ur shot then act like u are shot, move slower, in real life u dont keep running and tripple jumping when a heavy wepons guy shoots at you 100 bullets XD like TF2... make hand wepons, like chainsaw and machete etc...
add some physics aswell!!!
Different classes with different roles adn styles, it spices up the gameplay...

ohohohohohoh and make them wear masks XD Iron masks, customable ^^
these shit's look always greepy...

Weapons you can build yourself(For example Extended Magazines,Lasersight and so on) would be cool.

Crafting, cubes, carts, minning, thats the recipe for a success

add an RPG element to it please, something like stat bonuses gained for weapons or health or something of that sort, dont need to make it OP like so new players find it harder to join in, could reset at the end of each match something to the alikes of nation red, but a more basic/simple +1 to a stat instead
