Only got 25 cents since i am broke, looks like a good game tho. Just beware because this game is likely gonna make you download Ubisoft connect since ubisoft had to be ubisoft. (People say its a bad launcher and i got ADS back then.)

The launcher is fine now. If you don't want to use the launcher you can play the game through Geforce Now

I guess a lot of people, just like me, is pissed off with Ubisoft because of The Crew 1 (a better game) and don't want to buy because of that. The (empty) promise of an offline mode is something that we have a hard time accepting. I wouldn't hesitate to buy a 1 dollar game, if it was another company (not EA).

It's definitely happening. They are doing an offline mode for Crew Motorfest that came out earlier this year as well.

Ubisoft learning from their mistakes is definitely something to celebrate. Glad they are doing that

Hopefully they actually do. Right now it is more like another cash grab.

All I see is an open promise to all the other games, but the one, that everyone has been requesting, is still off the table.
Just let them get the other base game for 1$, spam them with all the events so they buy the DLC's again.

In the end we got the modder back on the track, doing the job Ubisoft was supposed to do.

In future we can expect most ppl to complain again how bad the offline mode from Ubisoft is gonna be, since this will be the bare minimum, as usual. I don't expect them to add p2p multiplayer options or a dedicated server to play with friends, you asked for an offline version after all.

Funniest thing would be a release of The Crew Remastered, for full price. At least this is what I would do, if I would be in their shoes. In case The Crew Unlimited (the Modded version) is going to be available, that would be the smartest move get legal action going again.
"Hey look what we just did for you! Your game is back, pay us the nostalgia fees..."

All this entire thing managed to achieve was another huge free advertisement campaign for Ubisoft and they surely know how to get more money out of this.

If it wouldn't have been for this revolt in the gaming community, they would have given it away for free at some point anyway, like they did with the last one. Now that it is announced with offline support in the end, this is even better advertisement, since it is ok to pay for the DLC's, since you get to keep the content you bought.

Honestly, that's not learning, that simply is playing your cards the right way. If they learned something, than it's to manipulate customers into believing they would have actually changed or achieved something.

1$ is a deal, given how much time you "can" spend in that world. Still not going to get it. First part was fun enough to play from time to time, but mediocre at best and full of cheaters. Even the cheated event scores never got removed and when you tried to compete with someone, you could see cars flying to the moon with 1k mph, not really what I call an enjoyable experience. The second part is even worse and by no means a worthy replacement. So that's a easy no for me.

It's up to everyone, but I am not feeding that company any more money. As if a little buhuu would change the world that easily.

TL;DR: Probably not, but since you seem to already own them you might as well try.

unpopular opinion: i truly don't see the appeal in arcade racing games in 2024 unless you are 12
ok not true, i love myself some trackmania or mariokart but when the game tries to look realistic, licenses real cars just to put nitro in everything... i mean come on.. there is even nitro in the helicopters, LOL

oh and it dares to be tagged as Automobile Sim on steam, talk about false advertising

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The tags are not chosen by the devs/publishers of the game nor by Steam itself, they're essentially added by the users via voting with a little bit of moderation from Steam. They aren't all that different from user reviews so it all boils down to pure opinion.

Also, many of us actually love arcade racing and look fondly at the time when racing games focused on being fun rather than realistic, and the sub-genre itself is barely alive in the AAA space these days so it's not like there's many new and high budget games to scratch that itch, just go look on youtube at the many old gamers complaining about the death of arcade racers.

Your opinion of this game might be valid, but...

"...unless you are 12"

If the whole game genre is not your thing, just pass the thread on by. Your opinion carries no weight when you're not into the genre.

If a thread is about the merits or decline of a genre, you might criticize the genre in that case. Don't insult the gamers who like that genre.

Golden rule: treat others like you want to be treated. a.k.a. Don't be a d***.

I own the game on ubisoft including dlc, if i buy it for 1 dollar on steam (i like the option of having on steam to launch ect.. its only a dollar...) would i still keep my dlc in ubisoft, and or would it work when i launch with steam?

Looking for an answer for this as well before I buy it. Only someone with personal experience would be able to confirm as it might be a per game basis kinda thing. Some games do let you use dlc from the ubi client on steam.

Hello, I've played The Crew 2 on Ubisoft Connect for 207 hours with season pass and can confirm that your season pass will work on Steam standard edition without any problem. The only thing is that if you played The Crew 2 and earned any achievements on Ubisoft Connect you won't be able to get them on Steam version cause The Crew 2 team doesn't know how to implement achievement transfer between applications

Is it worth it?
It's 4-times more expensive as the basegame and the info on the season pass doesn't sound very... much?
Atleast for someone who hasn't played the game yet.

• Get immediate access to 25 vehicles, including three exclusive to the Season Pass. Drive the Ferrari FXX K 2014, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X 2014, the Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 1993 and more.

• A permanent VIP 20% in-game discount will allow you to buy more vehicles and customizations.

• Enjoy an additional home location to showcase your vehicles in style.

• Customize your avatar with two unique outfits to show off your personal flare

IMO, if you're really into the game, it's aight. Some of those vehicles will give you a leg up in the various races and events. And they're pretty pricey in game. But...you can definitely also earn the cash in game to buy them. So YMMV.

If you're just gonna play for a few hours and move on, it's a definite skip.

I haven't played the game yet, so I don't know. But if it's something like Forza Horizon 4 with its Car Pass, then it should save a lot of time and leave a more pleasant impression of the game itself, at least for me.

Does offline mode mean no need for the Ubi launcher or will I still have to download and install it and get my Ubisoft password back from where I left it about a decade ago?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Offline mode it means that even if the game servers close and the game removed from the store you can still play the game without problems. I think you'll still need to log in on Ubisoft launcher (and this includes for every game from Ubisoft).

Thanks, I was under the impression that you could play old Ubisoft games without the launcher so I got my hopes up for this one as well, but apparently I confused that with EA games.

No worries, and I think it's still worth getting the game for a dollar, especially with the offline mode coming, but it's your choice.

You're not completely wrong, some old Ubi games do indeed work directly from Steam without the need to use Ubi's launcher. But they're the minority at this point.

Just a small heads up for anyone who will start playing it: Be sure to choose the character/avatar you really want at the beggining, there is no way to change it later in the game and no way to reset game progress.

Beware. You cannot change your character EVER. No new game, no erasing your data. You see them far too often in the game and there's character customization.

There are 626 vehicles in total, none are exclusive to the packs in the Special or Gold editions and only 5 are exclusive to other DLC:

  • ICE Marine Bladerunner 35 2016 (Season Pass)
  • Supermarine Spitfire MK IX (Season Pass)
  • Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 1993 (Season Pass)
  • Mazda RX-8 Pearl Edition (Mazda RX-8 Starter Pack)
  • Porsche Cayman GT4 Carbon Edition (Porsche Cayman GT4 2016 Starter Pack)

The Season Pass, Digital Special Pack, Motorsports Deluxe Pack, and both Starter Packs give you their included vehicles without needing to purchase them in-game.
The Season Pass does have a few other benefits including a 20% discount on in-game purchases.

Thanks for the infos. So when the Season pass says "Get immediate access to 25 vehicles, including three exclusive to the Season Pass. Drive the Ferrari FXX K 2014, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X 2014, the Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 1993 and more", the Evo X is not one of the 3 exclusive vehicles?
Also, 626 vehicles, that sounds GTA Online levels of excessive, lol. (Not that I mind.)

Well I gave it a shot and it won't run.

Load up intro can browse main menu and do settings, hard crash when I press / Continue at the character screen I assume, because I sometimes see some foot wear of a character model at bottom before it crashes lol

Tried all the common fixes online, nothing odd in event viewer. can't be bothered to chase it far maybe it will work someday.

yeah i get crash bad module every time i exit game =)
Your crash, which i had is from account information on ubisoft, scroll down and on the section of linked accounts leave only steam & twitch ( i think you can have only steam, but i left twitch there and it works).
The irony, they ask you to link allllllll your accounts and when you do, CRASH, CRASH, CRASH!

Wow, that is the last reason I would have guessed. Did not find that in my web searches.

Disabled PSN and Xbox and obsolete Stadia account links and solved the issue, Thank-You for the insight 😄. Was able to leave Amazon and Twitch accounts linked.

I wasn't using Discord or Facebook linking so don't know if they have issues.

I was lucky then as game only asked for a key which you you don't have when buying on Steam naturally. Exiting and lauching again solved the issue. Next hurdle was Ubi connect which needed to update (guess how often I play on Ubisoft).

After jumping through those hoops I could finally enjoy the game. Totally worth the one buckaroo I paid imho.
