True, it became very predictable. And also even unbelievable that even a guy like Dexter remains to not get caught for so long.
New faces and therefor possibly good for a few seasons, but they shouldn't let it run another 8 seasons.
I wonder and i guess his son also grew up by now, that in the end they might like him get caught.

I also enjoyed the sixth one. And part of the... russian? ukrainian? killers on the seventh (partially). But yeah, seventh and eighth season were mediocre and a really bad ending.

The only season I disliked was the final season, which was an absolute disaster. But I don't understand what problem people have with seasons 5-7. It maybe wasn't super original, but it was still fun and why change a concept that works? It worked for me at least.

I might be mistaken, but I think I've read that the seasons 1-4 showrunner is back for the new season. If that's the case, we might just get a decent sequel yet.

Dexter was one of very few shows that gripped me from the first episode. It's nuts how Michael C. Hall went from the absolute best dramatic series finale ever to the worst (both imho).
The fact that they're acknowledging the show went nuts at the end leaves me cautiously optimistic.

Bummer! For a moment I thought you meant Dexter's Lab! xD
Well, considering recent reboots and adaptations, this is for the better.

super stoked for this. reeeally hoping they actually give it a good ending this time. they've had plenty of time to think of something better.

Dexter, yeeeeah! ❤️
Really really looking forward to since I found out about the sequel.
It was a pleasant shock! 🥳
I like everything there, except for the very last ending. I just think for myself that it was not...
I imagine in my head that the ending was different, the way everything was leading to 😅
Probably the creators of the series were pressured or scared, and then they did everything reputedly "in the right way".

"The prodigal serial killer returns! Dexter is coming back to Showtime after eight years, and fans of the charming vigilante couldn’t be happier.
The network first announced the revival in October 2020, promising that Michael C. Hall would reprise his role as Dexter Morgan for 10 episodes set to premiere in fall 2021.
“Dexter is such a special series, both for its millions of fans and for Showtime, as this breakthrough show helped put our network on the map many years ago,” the network said in a statement at the time. “We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series.”
The original series ran from 2006 to 2013 and followed Dexter’s journey as he worked for the Miami Police Department by day and hunted down rogue criminals by night. The show premiered to widespread acclaim but gradually diminished in prestige, and the series finale was widely reviled by both critics and fans.
Hall himself has said that he didn’t love the finale, which showed Dexter faking his own death and becoming a lumberjack in Oregon.
Who's In It?
Apart from Hall, most of the currently announced cast are newcomers to the Dexter universe. Clancy Brown will play Kurt Cardwell, Dexter's main antagonist and the "unofficial mayor" of Iron Lake. According to an official character description from Showtime, Kurt “realized the American dream by going from driving big rigs, just like his father did, to now owning several trucks and the local truck stop. Powerful, generous, loved by everyone — he’s a true man of the people. If he’s got your back, consider yourself blessed. But should you cross Kurt, or hurt anyone that he cares for, God help you.”
Other new cast members include Jamie Chung, who'll play a Los Angeles-based true-crime podcaster caught up in the show's central mystery, and Julia Jones, who stars as Iron Lake's first Native American police chief. Alano Miller is also set to play an Iron Lake police sergeant.
In June 2021, Deadline reported that John Lithgow, who played Dexter's season 4 nemesis the Trinity Killer, will return for the new episodes. Dexter killed the character himself, though, so the context for his return remains a mystery.
