I know there are not many Achievement Hunters on the site but just wanted to give a heads up that Good Guy Nick achievement is possible to get from now till the 18th. Here is the details.

Be sure to prioritize this one. Its a lot of peoples white whale since the disappearance of free weekends. The last time they did a free weekend was in 2022 for a charity streaming event and before that it was in 2020 so if you miss it now, who knows how long you will need to wait to get another chance. I just joined easy lobbies and after a couple of games I got lucky enough to join a group who were doing it

How does this achievement work exactly? I tried to do this achievement with the Dead Center campaign with me, my friend and my brother (who was the new free weekend player) and then one bot. We completed the campaign but neither me or my friend got the Good Guy Nick achievement for helping my brother through the campaign. Any ideas on how this achievement exactly triggers?

should be exactly as the description says "Plays games with free weekend players and helps them survive a campaign." i believe you have to go through the campaign from start to finish

are you certain your brother does not have the game on his account?

We went through the campaign from start to finish. He does not have the game on his account however I am family sharing it and he does technically have it in his library like Adam stated. I suppose I'll have to find another person to complete a campaign with :/

The "free to play weekend player" can't have the game through family sharing either, it overrides the F2P license. Have to turn the game private on the "donor account", then the free to play license will be active, and the achievement will unlock.

At least this was today's lesson on my side.

That explains it I suppose, we theorized that we needed to have 2 or more people be the new free weekend players since the achievement states "players" in plural.

My brother does have the game through my family sharing which is a bust. Sure I'll find someone else to complete the achievement with. Thanks for the clarification!

You can turn your copy private, then he'll use the free to play license and count as a free to play player
