The Broken Sword, Space Quest, and Police Quest series.
OH! AND TIME COMMANDO.

I think it's worth the extra money for the original versions of The Shadow of the Templars and The Smoking Mirror.
Steam is missing The Angel of Death as well.
If you don't mind having the series split up across multiple services and you've
already played the original version of The Shadow of the Templars, go for it.
They did some unfortunate things with the Director's Cut that
prevent me from recommending it to people new to the series.

Please elaborate. What's wrong with the Director's Cut?

There's nothing wrong with it. The additions are great.
The new sections with Nico really add to her character and the story.
It's very much worth playing, but I think the original version should be played first.
You can really appreciate what was added having played the original.
My problems with the Director's Cut are:
They replaced George's narration in the intro with Nico.
They used Nico's fancy new sprite throughout the entire game, which looks strange since no one else got a new sprite.
They removed some dialogue and objects you could interact with.
They removed the telephone conversation portraits.
A couple scenes were altered to tone down the violence.
A few of the character portraits are off. George's in particular doesn't look accurate.
Most (all) of that sounds trivial, but it was very noticeable for me as a big fan of the original game.

+50! I love the series! I just hate what Piranha Bytes did with Risen 2.

I'd like to agree with this, and suggest Neverwinter Nights 2. The prologue that comes with the base game is hilariously stock, but the Mask of the Betrayer "expansion" is a fairly good rival to Planescape: Torment, in my opinion. More importantly, you have the chance to eat a god.

Amen to that, Long live Ion Storm! Long live Warren Spector!

Why hasn't anyone said Anachonox yet? That's a damn fine game. ^-^
ETA The Gabriel Knight series is also pretty good, from what I remember. And Deus Ex is a must-play! And The Last Express is great, as is Sanitarium.

They're superb. I haven't played them in a while, so I'll probably do so once I've got a bit more of my backlog cleared out.

Still own my own disc, well my second. My original was stolen along with Warcraft 2 and Starcraft.
Never had a chance to play Total Annihilation.
As for RTS games, I actually started with a much older one, which stays forever in my heart. Herzog Zwei. Not something to ever find on GoG though.

Whoaah D: I must've been like 1 year old when it was released...
Available here for free. Not sure if it'll work on the current operating systems though
EDIT: Seem to work on Windows 7, though I can't figure out how to continue after the main menu :S

Its a ROM for the Sega Mega Drive. Assuming you know how those things work, just use the Gens emulator.
Anyway, I'd rather use the original console. I have three copies of that game. :P

Wow, POD! I played this game a lot as a kid! I remember buying it in a supermarket, and then crying all the way home because I had just bought a game that I might not be able to run because of the memory requirements. I was kinda a drama queen back then, well, I kinda still am... Well, at the end of the day, it eventually worked and it was fabulous! :3

Now if only my old copy would work under Windows 7.

Well, here's my top 10 list of games, though it's not only 10 games so... suit yourself. I'm not including Planescape, Baldur and Icewind Dale because everyone knows them and loves them. And if you don't, then yes, you should. Anyway, here's my top 10 pick:
Extra non-old-school one:

Btw, copies of the Witcher 1 or 2 on Steam can be redeemed on GOG as well:

You'll find a link to the activation key in your Steam library page for each respective game.

thx did not know that. Are there other games where this apply.

Ok would be nice if it said so in big letter somewhere easy to see on GOG or Steam that that was the case I have been on GOG for a while and Steam even longer and it never occurred to me that this could be the case for any of the overlapping games.

Fallout 1, 2 + Brotherhood Of Steel. Even Steam calls these the trilogy.

I enjoyed Brotherhood of Steel on PS2. Despite the sex and piss jokes.
Then again, I pretty much love all the games made with the Snowblind engine.

What are some must have games? ATM, I have Heroes and Might and Magic 3. Always had the game, just on disc. So anyways, what are some Good Old Games you would recommend? I've been looking at Planetscape Torment and and the Baldurs gate games. Any other old school PC games I should pick up?
