I'm not entirely sure how to describe this visual novel. The author suggests this is possibly a mash-up of comedy, mystery and romance. I'd say it's one of those things you either love or hate. There are 7 endings,a bad and good ending for each character and one for Corvus. The only thing I disliked is how difficult it was to get the good endings - you can find a walkthrough here.

Heh, soon, yeah.. Started postponing these lately.
Okay now, to correct the little bit I said above. I didn't like the story too much, i.e. the otome stuff that Sinetry has already mentioned. I didn't realize it at first, even tho the mc was a female & everyone around her a male. It was kinda suspicious tho, lol. I guess I refused to believe!
Otherwise I think the setting was pretty interesting, but the story (well, I say story, but I pretty much mean the otome stuff) would have to be changed drastically to make it enjoyable for me.
Other than that, the graphics were quite cute-ish. Audio was okay, I didn't like a few tracks tho. And the fan service at the end was so unpredictable, I just loved it.
P.S. I think situations like these, are a good enough reason to stick with shorter VNs, so even people who aren't into a certain genre can 'force' (so to say) themselves to read it (until the end).

I said that I will try to avoid any 'normal' romance novels. I never try to make any visual novel fit into a category before I read them,so while it may be hard to see,but I didn't think of it as a romance visual novel even after I finished reading it. I mean, aside from perhaps the bird's ending which was more of a side-ending than a route, all of the other endings can be viewed in a non-romantic way. Even if you want to think of them as romantic, you can't ignore the fact they reveal something about the plot. (e.g. how Os slowly started to mistreat her dog or why did she kill the mushroom's friends. I can't really say anything about the third guy).

Yeah, I see what you mean there, and I mostly agree. In a way it's kinda hard to call it a romance, as what mostly happens are her victims getting a happy ending at Os's side (if we ignore the bad endings). But on the other hand, the actions Os performed on said 'people' kinda gave me the romance feeling, even though a really odd one!! It kinda gave me the feeling that I'm playing a dating sim, even tho this VN is far from that. I mean, what you had to do, was getting people to somewhat like you ... Well, that's the best way I can put this into words, so good luck understanding it. ^^
Of course this is just how I see it. I'm not saying it's a bad VN or that you made a bad choice. Far from that! I'm just giving you some basic (honest?) feedback (something I'm not really good at), which is the least I can do to somewhat 'repay' your hard work.

Author may not be sure, but I'm convinced that the correct term to describe The Knife of Traitor is otome - a game aimed at a female audience with the goal to develop romantic relationship between the heroine and one or several handsome guys. Since I'm not the part of target audience, I wasn't particularly impressed by characters or story. I also didn't like the music - I hate chiptune. Aesthetics are wonderful though and "fanservice" gallery unlocked after getting all the endings and comments on its images from the cast was moderately funny.

Try installing latest Visual C++ Redistributable package from Microsoft site. Install x86 version as well, even if you're running x64 version of Windows.

Can you try to install and run the ren'py sdk and tell me if you get the same error, another one,or can run it fine?
Also, what version of windows are you using? Any compatibility settings? Did you try running it as administrator? Are you sure that no file is corrupt and that it was extracted fine?
