Is that any different from any other beta that requires you to have an account for any other service. Like STEAM for example?

No? Didn't think so.

EA has ruined this game for me.

Even single player requires a constant internet connection.

Not to mention they already have dlc to sell.

Yo Ho, Yo Ho! A pirates life for me :P

Seriously, I think it's very important to support games by paying for them but some companies seem to be trying to ruin themselves with those kind of actions.

And they do it because of you pirates.

Not really because of 'pirates'.

Have you ever heard of Humble Indie Bundle? Any idea of how much it sells? You do realize they sell the games with no DRM at all, right?

Yes there is. The difference is that it is EA and EA is awful.

Not that Steam is like the shining paragon of all DRM but literally every interaction I've had with EA has been a roadtrip through hell. Plus everything I hear about this new SimCity sounds like they're trying to run it into the ground.

People forget that Steam is a DRM. Welcome to Matrix.

inb4 the excuses

"Oh but there's offline mode" (which has problems, and I'm sure you never use it)

"Well if offers me so many other things so I don't mind it" (Ok, so online DRM is okay as long as you have friends lists, achievements, and holiday sales that everyone bitches about)

Offline mode ALWAYS worked for me, even when turning on the computer with the internet already off.

The fact is DRM can be done right. Is it right to say " ALL DRM = TEH SUX" and then check your Steam? Yeah. But they're not all great like they're not all bad. I think Steam is the best there is right now, and I don't think there are many people who would refute that.

You can also lose connection while playing a Steam game singleplayer, nothing bad will come of it. I've been kicked out of my singleplayer experience on EA games because I have shoddy laptop wifi. Which is why I accept Steam's DRM methods.

DAMN. I really wanted to try the beta for a game that will require Origin, but it requires an Origin account!

Well, yeah... if it requires Origin, it requires an Origin account too. Shouldn't that be obvious and normal? :P

I didn't word that well.

I mean it's totally ridiculous that the beta requires Origin when the complete game will also require Origin.

Thanks for the info! I like simcity ,and I'm looking forward to try new one. And screw you all Origin haters! it may not be so cool and awesome like steam is, but it's pretty the same. Plus I have some games on steam that actually required me to sign up to origin (like batman) so... I'm not complaining and to try simcity legally is great :P
