Most of us searched and found the various groups (including informal ones) after MellyMelly event thread. And it wasn't "just" leaking that was the worst offence that pushed ppl to investigate.

Yes. For transparency, I want to also add, there is someone who I know got through because they're a close personal friend who has been lucky as of late and his ratio was a bit off. I let him for the lvl 1-4 giveaways.

Except I didn't insult those groups. I said that there was a problem with leaking going on. That seemed to happen from within those groups considering that several people including people who could have gotten in if they had simply gone in through the normal means got in. And I asked someone who got in and they admitted that someone posted it on a forum. I banned everyone because of that reason. It was a simple fix and I was going to deal with it on a case by case basis.
Then yes there is a problem, within those groups. If that's me insulting those groups then you really need to open a dictionary and learn what the word means to insult. If anything I implied/inferred that your group was less than reputable, I didn't actually say it. You overreacted. Simple as that.

Basically how I feel about the whole thing. If you know there are rule breakers, and the funny thing is that some of them that entered the leaked links would have been able to pass the Sgtool check.

I think this thread has attracted enough attention to the members of certain groups, both guilty and innocent. I'll be closing it now.
To the giveaway creators: if you protect your private giveaways with SGTools, and if an invalid entry wins your giveaway, submit a reroll ticket and provide the SGTools URL. Blacklist, report and move on. There's no need to create more forum discussions on this matter.
To those who enter private giveaways posted elsewhere: as a general rule of thumb, if the giveaway creator did not invite you to his giveaway personally, I would not advise entering the giveaway. Private giveaways are private for a reason, and the "I saw the giveaway URL, thus I'm entitled to enter, and I don't care who shared it" claim is not a good enough reason to receive the win and avoid any consequences. If you can't be sure that the giveaway creator shared the URL, ask in giveaway comments or ignore the giveaway.

Blacklists are inevitable, like death and taxes. You're bound to piss somebody off, even if you did not intend to. If you feel that you've been blacklisted because of a misunderstanding, feel free to contact the blacklister and talk it over. Be polite and try to understand their point of view; being a dick about it won't help your case.
If you are being a part of a group whose members repeatedly violate the site rules and cause trouble for you, consider that either you or them should not be members of that group anymore.

So earlier today I was bummed because of leakers crashing the totally sweet awesome party till my birthday event Station party thing. <_< Whatever. So I was debating punishing everyone because of the actions of a few assholes. Which didn't make me feel good.
I like people and I want as many people to join if they meet the requirements. I don't want people to get caught because of something stupid like where they live. I agree valve should make it possible for you to buy ROW gifts. So I found a solution to my problem when someone pointed out that there were groups that were notorious for doing stuff like that. These were people who wouldn't pass my simple checks. So I took my time and increased my BL to include every member of those groups. During the process, if I felt bad about doing it quickly went away because people who had entered my giveaway through leaked links were like the first people on that list. My conscience was cleared and I began my purge and I'm sure some innocent people got caught up in it.
Apparently I'm the asshole in this. An asshole enough for them to find a review I made and complain about the language that I used. So enjoy my conversation and don't worry this time it isn't our little friend. Compared to this guy I actually prefer "Beetlejuice" almost enough to make me want to take him off my BL.
